Rheudasil Park — Attraction in Flower Mound

This was a good little pond to go get some sunfish with my son. I was just simple bank fishing. The state stocks this pond with catfish put ever fished for them. Now Sept. 2022 the pond has reopened with a great make over. It has a newly installed boardwalk and separate fishing pier. Also a newly installed bathroom set. New jungle gym and basketball court. New sidewalk path that connects everything nicely. The only thing that is a real bummer is the parking. There is really non. You have to park on the street and take up a lane of traffic. This makes it dangerous when exiting from the driver side since cars are zooming by in the other lane. The park is between two neighborhoods but traffic runs fast there. So have the kids exit from the passenger side. Also there is a steep drop off from the play area to the pond. I think this could be fixed with a fence hopefully soon and it was just not a bad safety design. I would say to keep an eye on the toddlers and not your phone if they are playing in that area. Way better back in the day. They took out all the trees, and even CHANGED THE DUCKS! This is a nostalgic place for my family. We appreciated the diverse duck population, and even named the most unique one, Einstein (if you know, you know). It would at least offer a generic duck pond experience, if not for the fatal sun exposure that keeps people from bringing their kids here anymore in the first place. Dirty water is more reflective, and without shade from the trees they cut down, that pond is a magnifying glass when the sun shines on it. BE ADVISED: wear lots of sunscreen, shades, a hat, and bring extra water to drink.
