Read moreMy husband and I golf and use the driving range often since we live close by. In addition, we've planned a few golf tournaments and organized catered meetings here as well. The golf course and facilities are well maintained and beautiful. So when our daughter got engaged and we started looking at wedding venues, Sierra Lakes was a natural choice. My husband and I stopped by without an appointment and the manager was very accommodating; we loved the facilities and she gave us a pricing/informational package. We looked at a number of other venues as well, but Sierra Lakes was one of our top three. We were really leaning towards this venue due to the convenience to our home. However, when I visited with our daughter to get her input and finalize from the top three, we met with another young lady and ended up leaving Sierra Lakes very disillusioned. The young lady gave us a tour, answered questions, and took us back to the office to finalize catering pricing based on our guest list and look at the contract. When we were talking about detailed pricing for specific items, the lady began to heavily push a floral designer and lighting specialist on us; we felt very uncomfortable and she later told us that the floral business is her own and the lighting company are "good friends of hers." We were feeling disappointed and confused, so we decided to gracefully exit the meeting by thanking the lady for her time and telling her we were considering other venues. Then she strongly suggested another venue (Padua Hills) to consider. We left the venue with a really bad opinion of the Sierra Lakes representative, who could have potentially be handling our daughter's wedding!! Bottom line--They missed out on the opportunity to host a beautiful and memorable wedding event...And most likely future civic and private golfing/catering opportunities from our family's affiliations. We haven't been...
Read moreMy review is only about the teaching pro, Rick Danruther. I highly recommend Rick for anyone interested in improving their game!
My game was in the dumps. I've always been about a 13 handicap until recently I couldn't break 95 or even 100. I shot a 102 and was ready to quit the game. I did online lessons that didn't do anything except make things worse. I developed a major slice and a duck hook on my driver and was starting to get the yips pretty bad on my chipping. I was chunking and thinning irons all over the place.
I signed up for 5 lessons with Rick and it is the best $ ever spent on my golf game. When you think about how we spend so much on golf clubs, lost balls at $50/box, and golf course fees, why don't we spend more on lessons??? and then being frustrated after shooting a bad round, the $ spent on lessons isn't much at all compared to our sanity!
But then Rick! In my first lesson, Rick analyzed my swing and gave me a single swing thought. Every lesson things got a bit straighter and more consistent. My contact became more crisp and I pretty much eliminated the slices and hooks. As I improved, he gave me additional swing thoughts to tweak things just a bit. My swing is more on plane and I'm hitting the ball like I haven't hit it in a good 15 years. (I'm 54 y/o). The best thing is he didn't try to recreate my swing, he worked with what I already had, and made slight improvements to get things working again. To top it off, the dude is just a nice guy, patient, calm, and has a great demeanor.
I just went out and shot an 81! From a 102 to 81 in about 2 months! The 81 was my best round in about 5 years at least. What a difference Rick has made in my golf game!!! Thanks Rick and thanks to Sierra Lakes for having such a great pro at your course. Maybe I'll do another 5 lessons to try to get...
