I joined Orange Theory back in January with high hopes after hearing about their personalized approach and apparent member-centric focus. Initially, I was greeted with warmth and promises of flexibility – no contracts, cancel anytime, they said at the Front Desk'. However, as my experience unfolded, it became glaringly evident that Orange Theory is just like any other corporate gym, more concerned with profits than member satisfaction.
When I recently attempted to cancel my membership due to unavoidable circumstances involving travel abroad, I was met with a cold, bureaucratic response. Despite being assured of easy cancellation, I was suddenly informed of a supposed "corporate law" mandating an additional month's payment before termination. This revelation contradicted everything I had been told during my sign-up process.
The lack of empathy and understanding from the staff was disheartening. Instead of genuine assistance, all I received was sugar-coated apologies and a robotic recitation of company policy. It's clear that the initial friendliness was just a façade to lure in unsuspecting customers.
Orange Theory's refusal to accommodate my situation highlights their prioritization of profit over member satisfaction. It's disappointing to see a company abandon its supposed values for the sake of a few extra dollars. I cannot recommend Orange Theory to anyone seeking a gym that truly cares about its members. Save yourself the frustration and find a fitness center that values your loyalty and respects your individual circumstances.
And I'm not alone in this sentiment. Another reviewer echoed my experience in the past as well, stating that Orange Theory advertises itself as different from other gyms but resorts to the same old tactics when it comes to cancellations. It's a shame that a company that claims to be unique falls into the same patterns of corporate greed and...
Read moreI want to start off by saying that I honestly love the staff. I really do. they are so incredibly kind, make you feel welcome and comfortable and keep you motivated! Unfortunately I no longer recommended them as a company. I went to cancel my membership and was told that the manager that usually handles cancelations was put of town. I was informed that due to this,y membership might not be canceled when I signed the paperwork and I would still be charged for membership even though j was canceling the day before my pay cycle. that's obviously rediculous. they also told me I would be charged an additional month after canceling... which was never mentioned. actually, when I went in for my free class they told everyone there were no cancelation penalties like other gyms. so awesome! let's not forget to mention that they force you to buy a $100 or $120 heart rate monitor in order to keep your memebership, even though they have plenty there that they can allow their already high paying customers to use when they come in. oh! and now I'm stuck with this $100 armband that I can't return and can't sell because it's specifically for their company AND I can't even use it because you HAVE to pay for a memebership in order to use it with the app. absolutely rediculous. side note, once I complained about my membership not being canceled the day I signed legal paperwork to cancel it, magically another manager was able to do it. how...
Read moreI was hesitant to join Orangetheory because I was suspicious about such a well-branded, seemingly cookie cutter, and corporate-feeling group workout. I am usually just a runner, but I wanted something more as I get ready for my wedding... but I am definitely hooked! OFT staff make this place so much more than a corporate atmosphere, but they are beyond professional. Further, all staff seem so on top of it all, and the machines are always in great condition. I don't have to worry about things being stressful in the morning with machines not working, bathrooms being dirty, instructors being late, or instructors not being ready to motivate an almost always full class! This is such a positive change from my previous membership with Jamie Scott Fitness where I had to worry every morning if my instructor would actually show up, if the bike I was on would work, or if my instructor would be grumpy or tired (which seriously affected my motivation early in the morning too!). I really appreciate the little things that OTF-Forest Acres delivers as well as the really really big things like the most positive attitude and desire to push each person harder. Even though it is group exercise, the coaches know each client's individual abilities and limits, and all other staff know your name and make you feel so...
