Review: Pomo Bluffs Park – A Scenic Coastal Stop Worth Visiting

If you’re traveling along California’s northern coast and need a scenic place to stretch your legs, Pomo Bluffs Park is a fantastic pit stop. Located near Fort Bragg, this small park offers breathtaking ocean views, well-maintained walking trails, and a peaceful atmosphere perfect for a quick break before heading inland.

I stopped here while making my way back to California’s Central Valley and took my dog for a walk. The trails were clean and well-kept, and the weather was perfect, making for an enjoyable experience. There are benches placed along the bluffs, offering a great spot to sit and watch the waves crash against the rugged coastline. The park is also well-maintained, with trash bins available to help keep the area tidy.

That said, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Some of the interpretive signage is quite weathered and could use some upkeep. Additionally, if you’re visiting with small children or pets, extra caution is needed—there are dramatic cliffs with steep drop-offs, which could pose a serious safety risk.

Overall, I’d rate Pomo Bluffs Park a solid 4 out of 5 stars. While it may not be a traditional park with picnic areas or playgrounds, it serves as a stunning rest stop and a perfect place to soak in the last ocean views before heading inland. Whether you’re arriving at the coast from State Route 20 or making your way back, this is a must-stop spot for anyone looking to experience the beauty of...

It's really a great place for weekend or vacations now's the greatest weather in the United States on the West Coast you can even go back into the childhood the first time you ever saw the ocean you don't have to imagine that you're on the shore in the sand because it's real it's really real and wonderful and beautiful it is so beautiful sometimes I can't tell where earth stops and heaven begans.max. it's also a place you can find and get by yourself if you want where you can have your own thoughts your own personal thoughts not the thoughts that you're dealing with in the world if you know what I mean. Everybody needs a break in this kind of world we live in this would be a happy spot it's what I call it a happy place to enjoy yourself and whoever's with you I take my dog Rin Tin Tin and Australian Shepherd we've been together eight years he's a swimmer and he loves the ocean he loves large areas of water he'll swim across the Tennessee River in Alabama just for fun. He helps me as I try to help the people that sees my pictures and the little pieces of that I can come up with and I try...

A great spot to pull your car in and see some nice views of the ocean. Small parking lot but it has bathrooms (at least when we were there (Feb '23)). There seems to be trails but my boyfriend and I were staying at the Emerald Dolphin and just parked at the look out and stayed in our car to watch the sunset before retiring to our room. Very pretty, and popular for that reason, but great views. If you're staying at the Dolphin I would also recommend the 15 minute footpath walk from the motel to the small cove beach across the...

Excellent place to walk your dog or just walk by the ocean that is breath taking. I have watched Pelicans flying over and also watched whales go by here. Just don't get too close to the edge. There are benches along the path, educational kiosks and bathrooms. Plenty of parking and wheelchair accessible paths. You can even catch glimpses of deer playing in the fields! Don't be too loud though or they'll get spooked 😳

This location is exposed to the elements, and you will be able to see and feel the power of the ocean, where the ocean collides with the mouth of the Noyo River. It is easily accessed by car putting you right there. If given the chance, during certain times, you can witness the Coast Guard taking their boat through this treacherous waterway. Very impressive.
