Noyo beach is great! The surf is gentle 99% of the time, we feel comfortable bringing our small children and letting them wade. Though we always keep an eye on them. On the south side there is a jetty with large rocks that the kids love to climb on. However, the jetty protects the harbor's entrance -it has very deep water directly off the side, so we don't let them go to the south aide unattended. On the north side there are tide pools. Careful not to step on the aggregate anenomy! When the tide is low they close up and look like algae clumps with pebbles stuck to them. If you step on them they will lose their moisture and may not make it until the next high tide. You can also see urchin and tide pool sculpins. People often bring their dogs here. If you are a rock hound, the underwater topography lends itself to finding some treasures - many...
Read morePerfect place to let your dog get the zoomies out when on your trip up or down the coast. It's a beautiful little sandy pebbled beach that is right at the mouth of the Noyo River. Awesome place for the humans, too! There is plenty of space for the pooches to run and exercise while you watch the local harbor seals frolic in the surf. The jetty is a great place to fish and watch the fishing boats as they come & go from the harbor. There can be quite a few puppers running around so little children on the loose may not be a great idea as they can & do get knocked over by overly happy & exuberant doggos having fun. BUT PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR...
Read moreBeautiful slice of beach heaven for our four-legged furry one. When we got there there were maybe five or six other dogs but 30 minutes later it was completely empty. Considering it was New Year's Eve I'm not surprised but for such a huge area it was awesome to have it all to yourself for a moment. Definitely at the top of the list for off leash dog parks we have ever been to. By the way all kinds of restaurants on the way down to the dog park right off the water. Serving everything you can think of right from the ocean. Thank you Mendocino for...
