Horrible Customer Service Experience – Kane's Furniture Fort Myers
I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the treatment I received from Kane’s Furniture in Fort Myers. I’ve been a returning customer—back in 2018, I purchased all my furniture from this store and had such a great experience that I came back again to replace it. Unfortunately, after this most recent experience, I will never return, and I can no longer recommend this store to anyone.
I called to request a return for items that are completely unopened and unused. I explained that I love the items, but due to space issues, I needed to return them. The person who answered, Evelin, responded in a shockingly unprofessional and dismissive way. She repeatedly used the expression "huh" after every sentence, in a tone that clearly suggested she didn’t care at all. It was as if she was telling me, "That's your problem, not ours." Every time I tried to explain something, her constant "huh" made it sound like I was being mocked or brushed off. It was not just unhelpful—it was disrespectful and rude.
I asked to speak with a manager, and instead of transferring me, she said, “He’s going to tell you the same thing I just told you,” and refused to let me speak to anyone else. She made the decision for the manager before even hearing my full situation. That level of arrogance and lack of professionalism is unacceptable.
To make matters worse, no one ever informed me at the time of purchase that the store does not accept returns. If that policy had been made clear, I would have thought twice before finalizing the order. According to the Kane’s website, returns are “upon approval”—but apparently, that means nothing when the person answering the phone has already decided your case doesn’t matter.
This is not the first time I’ve experienced questionable behavior at this location. 3 dyas ago, when I went to adjust my order in person, a manager told me I had to explain to the sales associate at the front that I was working with someone else so she wouldn’t get upset after I was already talking to my sales person. That is completely unprofessional and makes customers feel like they’re walking into a personal drama, not a place of business.
The only person in that store who deserves recognition is Erik, who has always treated me with respect and professionalism.
Kane’s has just lost a loyal customer, and I will make sure others know about my experience. I give them one star only because I can't give zero. If you expect to be treated with basic respect and professionalism, I suggest you shop somewhere else. It is also disappointing considering that Kane’s furniture is not cheap. Their pieces are sold as high-quality items, yet they treat customers as if their money has no value. Read moreGreat experience while shopping. James Springer helped us. Amazing representative. I have a lot to say about James. First of all, he is well knowledged about any product you asked about on the floor. Second, he has pays attention to customer needs. He understands what you are looking to buy. The best part of our experience is like other stores, and he did not ask about my budget; instead, he asks what we like and what we will be looking into. That shows he is not into making big commissions, but he is there to find the best match, and you can decide what price range you want to go for. What a great salesperson quality we have found. Also, when we compared the price with others, you will not find much difference but find some great quality. He also responds to you as soon as possible. When we were shopping one another place, we found that either you are not noticed by the salesperson, or someone picked you to help you leave you alone to check things by yourself. There is no problem looking around without help, but what I learned after dealing with James is that you will miss the information about your selected furniture. When with James, he walked every step we took in the store and gave us details about the quality and does it meet the purpose of what we are looking for. Not only that, I liked that he suggested as if we like anything he thinks can be a good match. We were picky customers. But I was surprised by his patience and walking with us from one side to another side. The truth is until we select or find some, he will not get paid, but he did not think about it. His only concern was to find the thing we will love. Our first concern was going to have the delivery on time. He told us the truth from the beginning. He said some would be delayed some will not. To make sure every time we liked something, he took notes on those and run to check the availability. What else we can ask for. My overall experience was amazing, and I can not rate Jame Springer less for any mistakes that may occur by the company. Do not take our experience but if you have any intention to shop at Kanes, please meet James, you will find everything we mentioned about him. Great employees like him make the business grow. Also, please compare some other benefits you will get in Kanes where you will not find another store such as a delivery option. We shopped almost two weeks ago and hold the review to see James' response when we ask him about our furniture, cause often once sales are made, the salesperson will delay replying. Guess what, he replied to me within 2 minutes. Even he gets back to me in an hour, and I will not take it wrong cause he might have customers that time, giving them the same attention he gave us while shopping. I’m EXTREMELY disappointed in the severe LACK of customer service the Kane’s Furniture of Fort Myers, FL offers. I purchased thousands of dollars worth of furniture from Kane’s over 8 months ago, in November of 2021. There are delays in shipments and supply shortages everywhere, so I was disappointed, but understood when they told us our furniture would not be delivered until The beginning of April 2022. I called in April only to find out that the shipment was delayed until the END of July. Kane’s never gave me any notification that there were further delays. I was a uper upset, but what can you do? I called AGAIN, today, July 27, 2022. Spoke with a lady named "Emerald," at least I believe that is what she said on the phone. Now she tells me it will not be delivered until the LAST WEEK of AUGUST. She stated that it was shipped June 5th and takes 8-10 weeks for delivery. Okay... whatever... when I told her that 8-10 weeks would make the delivery time between July 31st and August 14th she responded "I don't know, that is just what I'm told to tell people on the phone." When I then responded that I find this very frustrating since I spent thousands of dollars over 8 months ago and STILL have no furniture to show for it, she responded with a very snarky and RUDE "okay." And said nothing further after that. I find this to be absolutely ABYSMAL customer service. Come on... the BEST customer service Kane's can offer is months upon months of delays and associates who DO NOT CARE and mock the customers with sarcasm over the phone?? I will never do business with Kane's Furniture again and I will tell everyone I know to avoid Kane's like the plague. I will also write reviews on Google, yelp, Facebook, and any other avenue I can find to help warn other hard working, innocent individuals not to get robbed by this store!! Kane's has NEVER once offered any kind of compensation, discount, reimbursement, or anything else to even ATTEMPT to make this right. I will take my business elsewhere from now on. This is completely ridiculous and if this is how Kane's conducts business and treats their customers... you all should be ashamed of yourselves.
