KAY Jewelers — Attraction in Fort Myers

I was charged $85 to have the battery in my Movado watch (that we bought at Kay’s) replaced and one link taken out of another watch. I was so shocked I paid it but when I got home it really sunk in! I called another Kay’s and they said it would be $30. I called the location on Six Mile that did the service and he said they are mandated to charge $50 for the battery and $35 for a link removal. That is horrible! The batteries cost about $3.00. We have been Kay customers for 20 years but we will never go back to the Fort Myers location. UPDATE: I promptly heard from the manager at this location and we were able to come to a resolution that was fair to both of us. Also, in the future, customers will be notified of these charges prior to service. Do not let Kay's repair your jewelry. My wife and I were in Kay's with our granddaughter and they asked my wife if they could clean her wedding ring, which she's had for 47 years. They cleaned it than told us we were going to loose the diamond if we didn't get it repaired. They said it would come back with a brand new head and prongs. They sent it out and we received it back looking fine, now we are not jewelers. 13 months later my wife went to remove the ring and realized the head and diamond were missing. Now the ring was fine for 47 years, before Kay's worked on it. They said to bad, we didn't purchase there warranty which we weren't offered, at least we don't remember it being offered, not the point. We ended up taking it to Dunkin Diamond s , so for 1,200.00 they re building a new Head and replacing diamond. Such a shame on Kays for not standing...

I called this location after speaking with another store locally stating I would be in to spend a good amount tomorrow on a men’s 22” 14k rope chain approx 4mm in width depending on appearance when I go and would like to know if what I was looking for specifically was in stock. A man answered the phone and stated vaguely “we have lots of chains in stock”. I expressed I had limited time tomorrow and was hoping to get a confirmation they had the specifics I was looking for so he suggested I go look online… instead of going to confirm for me like the other location was happy to do when I called in. I didn’t see an option online to check for local stock. Needless to say I’d rather drive a little farther for better service and appreciation. There are plenty of jewelers shops to choose from...
