I called John Mays Jewelers and asked if they could put a new battery in a ladies watch and also take links out of the arm band to adjust the size. The lady who answered the phone said yes they could do the battery and would look about sizing it.
We drove to Ft. Smith from Poteau and upon getting to the door I found it locked. After a couple minutes a man came and unlocked the door.
I showed him the watch that needed a battery and the watch that needed the armband adjusted.
He told me he could not do this job until next week. Many jobs were ahead of me and he could not install a battery for me today. I told him I had driven from Poteau because the lady said he could do this. He said he could not leave the front counter to go to the back and install the battery because he might get robbed. There was a woman sitting at a desk in that room also. He again said I could leave the watch and come back next week but he could not do the job today.
I then asked if he could recommend another jeweler in the area who could provide this service. He snapped back that he could not recommend another jeweler to fix my watch.
I left the store and went to Kay Jewelry Store in Central Mall. There were two workers in this store also. The gentleman took both my watches and within five to seven minutes he had a new battery put in one watch and links taken out of the other one to adjust the armband.
I would never recommend or go back to John Mays...
Read moreWe visited John Mays Jewelry to have the gems in a ring we won at auction evaluated. The older gentleman, who we assumed was the owner, informed us that we would need to pay $150 for an appraisal just to verify if the diamond and sapphire were genuine. He seemed dismissive and even smirked when we mentioned the auction price, suggesting it was unlikely the gems were real. His attitude made us feel uncomfortable and hesitant about getting a second opinion.
We then went to the Diamond Center, where the experience was entirely different. The staff there was incredibly helpful and friendly, and within 10 minutes, they confirmed that our gems were indeed real. Their professionalism and welcoming attitude were in stark contrast to what we encountered at John Mays Jewelry.
We’re relieved that the Diamond Center provided accurate information without any charge, and we will definitely return to them for future appraisals. Based on our experience, we would highly recommend the Diamond Center for their excellent service and fair...
