I set up an appointment over the phone for my initial testing and received several emails confirming the date and time. When I showed up on the proper day and time, no one could be found and the building was locked. I called several people to find out what was going on. I got a call a few days later informing me they had set up my appointment on a day they are closed and I should have known that. An employee from Ivy Tech set up my appointment, why should I know their hours? They were unwilling to help me resolve the issue. I took the day off work to try again to take my test. After the testing, I met with a very rude adviser. She told me I shouldn't try to go in for business because I wasn't up to standards on math. Maybe I would be better suited for factory work. I wanted to go to school to further my education in a career I wanted to pursue not be belittled and offered work in a job I don't need college for. Shouldn't the advisers be helping you set up for goals not steer you away from them.
My boyfriend is a student here and when he signed up for his second year and financial aide, they accused him of fraud because he lost his job 2 years ago, thus the reason for going back to school, and said he's a liar and stole money from financial aide. He filled out the proper paperwork stating his situation the year prior and it wasn't properly filed by Ivy Tech this year and so came the accusations. Instead of looking into situations and finding a solution like proper customer service, they are rude and vile people. If you can get past the horrible attitudes of the employees, my boyfriend is happy with the teachers and education he is receiving, but he also was discouraged from trying to join the program he wanted to by a...
Read moreI have a degree in business administration, a CDA credential, and I’m finishing up my degree in early childhood education at Ivy Tech. This will be my third year of attendance. My advisors and professors for my business degree were wonderful. However, I couldn’t complain enough about my advisors and professors for my education degree. They are the reason I am leaving Ivy Tech after I finish my summer courses and transferring to a different college. Most of the courses you need for the early childhood education degree need program chair approval. The program chair of the education board at the FW Ivy Tech is Cynthia Kumfer. Cynthia never answers her calls or emails so it’s nearly impossible to get registered for classes. I have literally been spamming her and her secretary’s phone and emails for several months now and I still can’t get help registering for classes. When I talk to my academic advisor, she tells me she doesn’t know anything about registering for my classes and I need to talk to Cynthia. Not to mention that on the day Cynthia was supposed to do my CDA verification visit she never showed up and had to reschedule. Cynthia also once told me that I wouldn’t be able to complete my degree while also working. I hate to break it to you, but money doesn’t grow on trees and some people have to work in order to pay for their education. But jokes on you, I’ve been working full time and going to school full time and have been on the Dean’s List every semester. For a school that prides itself on helping working individuals receive an education, you are a joke! I’d never recommend anybody to go to this school. The communication across the board is crappy and the...
Read moreI am really disappointed with ivy tech ft Wayne. I am also not one to leave bad reviews but this one is well deserved. If you’re thinking about attending in person or online i encourage you to read other reviews too most of them have had the same issues as I have. The professors are amazing for the most part but advising and financial aid really ruin the whole experience. This is my third semester out of five here. The first semester my advisor told me I wasn’t fit for college and should drop out. She told me that I had to chose school or working full time and could do both full time. I told her some of us have goals and can’t afford to live if we don’t work. She constantly cut me off when I was talking. I also proved her wrong and made the deans list and she was still very rude even after seeing I made the deans list.I finally got my advisor changed and the new ones been great. The issue I’m facing right now is financial aid. I am very very disappointed in them. It’s been since July of calling and emailing every single week to try and get these issues resolved. I understand fafsa has been an issue for many this year but I’m sorry it should not take 3+ months. Everyone has a different reason as to why these issues are going on and tells me something different every week. The supervisor has yet to call me or return my emails. Her assistant stopped responding to my calls and emails. I have made the deans list the two semesters I have been there and this is how I’m treated? I definitely will not be going back to ivy tech ft Wayne after I complete...
