UZ is the OG Lazer Tag experience in FW, and they've done a great job keeping up on the place - none of the frustrations you can sometimes experience with older entertainment joints with broken or out-of-service games/arenas. Another positive for UZ is they are open later than other options. Only by a couple of hours, but this really helps if you work for a living and still want to carve out time to play. The downfalls: Very little communication before playing to let new players know what the objectives are, what gives points and what takes them away. May be a non-issue for long-time or frequent players, but as I am neither, it took a round or 2 and asking other players for info to overcome this. This was perhaps the worst downfall, as it prompted several in my group to say that due to this alone they would not return because of it. Apparently UZ hosts some type of "All Access" event on certain weekends. I don't know the frequency but I think it's monthly. I believe this event is actually "scheduled" for after public participation hours end, and is for players that play on some kind of "semi-pro" level in tournaments around the country, and players wanting to get on that level. The problem occurs when a group of adult men ranging from late teens to 40ish age range join the public games and "practice" on unsuspecting families and kids. As an adult, I do what the rest of polite society does - smile externally while silently judging the lack of personal integrity, hygiene and social skills that have clearly percolated over long years of loneliness and rejection to culminate in this sweaty try-hard guarding a point base from the invasion of 10 year-olds. The kids in my group are not as thoughtful or gracious, which leaves my family fun night overshadowed by angry outburts and arguements, and for the youngest participants, tears and frustration. As a parent, when your kids night is ruined, so is yours. And I have to admit, it is frustrating even for adults to have to overcome an unnecessary obstacle in the game when you are there for good-natured play and relaxation.
If these Sweatys were the type of role models to pull a kid in to teach a strategy or achieve an objective, it would be a completely different judgment I'm left with. Alas, the takeaway is that this establishment is better visited on weekdays or early evenings unless you aspire to...
Read moreMight look like a random warehouse, but inside is a big laser tag room and arcade. I’ve been here a lot as a kid and enjoyed it, and now have recently gone back with some friends. Laser tag area feels bigger than LaserX and other places, and lots of fun hiding places. There are also three colored teams to choose from instead of just two. If you’ve got a smaller group they let you decide if you want to play on teams or play everyone for themselves. I appreciate that they don’t force your group to play on teams, especially if you’ve got an odd number and members in different age ranges. I got recently got tickets through Groupon because they were super cheap, but Ultrazone will actually MATCH the groupon ticket deals!! When you buy from Groupon, most of the money goes to Groupon, so instead buy it straight from Ultrazone so they get the money! All you have to do is call ahead and confirm how many people, what deal you saw etc. Anyway, if you are looking for a fun activity that also burns some calories check this place out. My 20+ year old friends and I all had a blast. PS-wear something breathable, teeshirts, leggings, shorts, etc, even if it’s cold outside you’d be surprised how much you sweat...
Read moreprecautions are not being taken seriously when it comes to covid.
in response to owner. yes sanitizing is a thing to enter, I will give you that. we had more than 30 people in our game to the point where you couldn't turn around without running into someone and the majority of people were not wearing masks. nearly impossible to social distance when too many people are thrown into a room together. the mask is only effective if it is worn properly and your employee was not wearing it properly as its supposed to cover the nose as well. and it was nearly impossible to social distance in your lobby after the game and more than half of everyone in the game was not wearing a mask and crowding around each other to see their game placement. Ft Wayne has a high number of covid cases and a couple of us from my birthday group ended up sitting out the other two games because we felt like our safety was being...
