After ordering multiple large items online at Costco.com I’m editing my review. Costco.com is absolutely horrible to deal with, heaven forbid you should need something large delivered and you should have to use their absolute despicable delivery service. I ordered a couch for my son as he was moving into a new apartment, first they were higher than a kite and smelled so badly of marijuana it was disgusting, then the couch was actually too big to fit in but the one guy was so unprofessional he was verbally upset to me, the customer. Then I ordered a couch for my house, I was told by Costco.com that they will only deliver to my house on Wednesday, which is the only day I’m not home and asked them to please set it up on a different day but they refused to even try for a different day. They did agree to schedule the delivery for later in the day so I’d be home, which was fine. Day of delivery, they deliver the couch and I had paid for them to set it up and haul away the trash, the delivery guys were quite upset saying they were not supposed to set it up just drop it off, I had to persuade them to do the job I had already paid them to do. Again, they were very very unprofessional, telling me how Costco always does this, has them set something up when they were unaware they needed to. They also were upset they were at my house later in the afternoon because now they we’re going to be home late(like 6 pm instead of 5pm)!! They also told me they could have delivered the couch any day and wasn’t sure why Costco told me they could only deliver on Wednesday’s. Now you’d think I would’ve learned my lesson by now, but I recently ordered outdoor patio furniture and again was told it could only be delivered on Wednesdays, and I did tell them that the delivery guys said that’s not true and it could be delivered a different day, the lady at Costco told me no it can only be delivered on Wednesday. So we scheduled it to be delivered the following Wednesday later in the afternoon, again, so I’d be home. So all was good, until I received an email around 11 saying my furniture would not be delivered as it was refused shipment and would I like a refund. So of course I called Costco and the first person I talked to said they don’t know where it is and they’d give me a call back...heard nothing, so I called back and talked to someone else who said she will elevate this to a manager and they would call me back, we were very specific about calling...not emailing, of course I received an email and no call. She asked if I had received my furniture to which I responded no I have not....again no response. I call back to see what is going on with my furniture, she has no clue so I ask for a manger.. he calls the manufacturer, to which he told me they had no idea, he calls the delivery guys, dear lord I knew that would get us nowhere, it didn’t!! He brought me on the call with the delivery company and then decided to get off the line leaving me to deal with Costco’s mess...he hangs up...the lady with the delivery company asks me a few questions...name address etc....then there’s some silence she asks if I can hold comes back and says oh we can’t set you up for delivery you’re going to have to call a local delivery company yourself.. gives me number hangs up, she was very rude! So here we sit no help from Costco and no furniture....DO NOT order from Costco online....they’re horrible liars...
Read moreThey raise the bar for customer service. You will see lines wrapped around the front waiting to check out and the workers are talking, making jokes, smiling and making sure you got what you wanted all the while they are checking out your groceries fast as heck. No matter how long the lines are I've never spent more than 6 mins waiting ever. You can also order the famous $1.50 hot dog drink combo and have it in less than 3 mins when the line is long. There have been many times it’s been under a minute. Amazing. If you want the best customer service PERIOD you go to this Costco, or any Costco for that matter. Heck we just go there for lunch sometimes
Edit: 6/22/2020 Since I moved to Fort Wayne I have had only a couple different bad customer service experiences. Three of them were here and two on the same day within 5 mins of each other when I went to the front to say that their employee was treating me so poorly that other shoppers were stopping to ask if I needed help. I went to the front to inform them that I needed to pick up a script in the pharmacy but a worker decided to completely lose her cool for reason that are completely unknown to me or the other shoppers who witnessed it. So when I mentioned it to the front the manager said okay then I had to go back to the same lady to pick up my script and..she did it again. So the manager knew she was losing her cool for whatever personal reason and he decided I needed to go through it a second time. There is something I noticed. I love this store. I have talked to a lot of people who shop there and I really hear the same thing and it all boils down to this: It's a great place to shop because of what they sell. That is all. You can shop there without issue as long as you don't speak to anyone. As long as no one speaks to you. I had the store manager call me last year because of the customer service lady who started our account was losing her mind and yelling with her manager about another customer. Completely talking trash and bashing this unnamed customer who HAPPENED TO BE THE ONE COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW SHE WAS TREATED so I think I would side with the customer who was complaining considering while she was complaining they were making fun of her behind her back..to other customers. And so was the manager who said he would take care of the issue I had the other week. I never did pick up my script and I called my doctor to have one called into another pharmacy. My membership is up for renewal in August and I am...
Read moreJust after purchasing fuel I realized I was entirely too tired to continue traveling. I woke up to a police person informing me that I couldn’t remain. No drugs, no alcohol, no illegal behavior, current membership, hours old receipt, but Costco would rather I endanger myself and others by driving while exhausted.
I was already disappointed with the new leadership giving himself a raise, focusing on brands I don’t buy (nestle, proctor and gamble, etc.), downgrading quality to a remarkably noticeable level, and raising the prices of everything, including membership.
It just isn’t what it was and for what it has become, Sam’s club has been doing it longer, better, and has both the diversity of products, and the prices I like, and the staff I’ve spoken with in both places... as a general (informal) rule, I’d say the employees are also consistently happier at Sam’s.
Do I feel awful funding the Walton’s? Yeah. But if that’s the direction the new Costco is going, why even bother fighting it?
If I were wealthy enough, I’d avoid both companies.
At least the first officer was polite and respectful. The second seemed to forget that the hour she spent in her warm car was an equal amount of time I was closer to losing the tips of my fingers. But we all know “protect and serve,” is only referring to those with the wealth to leverage the service and protection. I was reminded of this as she hurried me along. And I knew any hint of challenge or disagreement and I might end up dead or in a hospital. I am disabled and disadvantaged because bullies didn’t like me calling around to find out what my rights as a tenant in Fort Wayne were (spoiler alert: tenants in most of Indiana have no rights - seriously).
Oh and the police suggested I spend the night at the sketchiest most scary truck stop I’ve ever seen. I didn’t even feel safe enough to stop to ask if it was safe to sleep there. It didn’t look or feel safe. Costco has cameras so even if I did get robbed or hurt, at least there would be a record, and there weren’t drug addicts or trash everywhere. I pack out what I pack in.
I used to be delighted to support Costco, often going well out of my way to patronize their company. Now, with the higher prices and questionable policies, I’m not nearly as eager. I do not expect their trajectory to correct. Greed seems to motivate all things anymore. Greed alone. Short term. Myopic....
