Edit: once again, JnJs proves to be the best. The issue has been resolved, thank you!
Julia and Jay are wonderful people and JnJ Games and Hobbies has been a favorite store of mine for local gaming and coming to relax with friends. It's always been a safe place and has consistently good atmosphere. I couldn't praise them enough for all the good times, and I'm thrilled that the store has been able to grow, expand and accommodate more people over the years. For this, they deserve 5 stars.
Unfortunately, I'm finding myself in a bit of a positivity rut. For the last month or so, there has been constant bickering and back-and-forth rulings on whether or not the game room next to the bathrooms is available on a first-come-first-serve basis as it has historically been, or a room requiring reservation. Every time Jay and his wife is there (or just him), if a reservation is requested on the same day, that reservation is honored. Whenever they aren't there, usually on Monday and Friday nights, the employee running the store refuses to honor same day reservations, even if they were made with Jay earlier in the day.
While it is the right of any owner to decide exactly what happens and is allowed in their store at any time, it is a communal hope that some consistency would be had in the rules of their establishment, especially concerning whether or not a measure of comfort could be had via chance, or via honored reservations.
Trust is hard to earn and easily lost, and it is with regret that I give this beloved place a one-star review. If this matter is simply an error of communication, one would hope that it could be solved easily, and trust restored. However, if this matter is one lacking in the basic respect of others and willful malice on the matter of dishonored reservations, that's an abysmal quality that should be corrected immediately.
One star until the matter is resolved, either by honoring reservations made on the same day, or by eliminating them altogether and returning to a first-come-first-serve basis.
Consistency is key, and trust is everything; we have been let down as a community on both....
Read moreI recently got into tcgs about two weeks ago, and had been going around to different stores looking into a certain tcg. I'm not familiar with how it all works and was getting information and building a collection and decks to play. The first time I went into this store, the shaggy haired guy didn't seem like he wanted to be there and didn't seem to be interested in my curiosity about game nights and different places that played. He did however bad mouth a few places I had never heard of. I asked about deck boxes and he pointed where they were. They were out of the nicer deck boxes, so I asked when they might get more in. He didn't know or seem to care when they were getting more in. So I ended up going back a couple of days later because I knew that they had had boxes for deck boxes that were the nicer ones that I was looking for. I told shaggy haired guy that I had to order the nice ones since they didn't have any in stock. He said he wasn't sure if they would fit. So, I decided to spend the 55$ on this box in hopes that it would work. He never said to me, that if I opened it, or if a tear occurred opening it, that it couldn't be returned or exchanged. I went back today in hopes of at least exchanging it for a bigger box that would work. There was a heavier set bald guy sitting behind shaggy haired guy, shaggy haired guy remembered this and said he remembered saying to me that he wasn't sure if they would fit, but instantly shot me down because I had opened it. How else I was supposed to know if they would fit but to open it. The guy behind him didn't care either and neither had any interest in trying to help me or make things right. Again, you and your employees need to express your rules to customers that don't know alot about the tcgs and gaming stores in general. 55$ is alot of money for a box. Had I known that was your policy, I would've waited on purchasing it. I have been to numerous other stores around Colorado Springs and not one of them acted or treated their customers this way. I will not, and do...
Read moreStaff needs customer service training. I've been going to this store for 4 years now. I love the owners but the other staff are useless. Today I went to look for items that were suppose to be out for release starting today. I looked into that section of the store. It has gotten so bad and games are mixed together unorganized that you have to move stuff around to see if you can find anything your looking for. I then walked up to the 2 employees behind the counter standing there talking to each other. I asked if they had gotten any of the product that was suppose to be released today. (Usually there is always extras) The first employee lied and said no we didn't get any of that and it won't have it tell next weekend. So i thought i was wrong and on the release date and went to my car. I looked it up and discovered i was right it and the release date was today. I then went back in to show the employees and ask again because maybe they didn't realize. The second employee then told me he thinks its in one of the boxes on the floor and they are running behind unpacking stuff so he has no idea. I seen the boxes and symbols of that product and so did he. He then claimed because the boss is on vacation he can't unbox anything and sell it to me. I then left frustrated. I have done the same thing on other release dates and including the owner has unboxed whatever it was and sold me the release products several times before without a problem. This experience plus the unorganized chaotic store it has become has turned me away from wanting to go back there more and...
