Highly recommend for anyone that wants to get into rock climbing, bouldering or just overall get into better shape. It was my first time and this is no joke! It's challenging and fun! Staff is beyond helpful and all very nice. Dylan gave us tips on numerous occasions that helped immensely with our lack of experience. The best part is, there is something for everyone. The ranges of difficulty is legit and you can really climb safely based on your preferred level of experience. There were little kids here speeding past us so that tells ya how safe and fun it is. Once again, thanks to Bobby for teaching us and Dylan for the tips! Can't wait to come back and try again!

So much fun! When you first come you sign a waiver then get trained on the belay system on a practice wall. Kids under 12 must have an adult with them at all times. They also have automatic ropes so if you are an adult with a kid you can still climb too. My 6 and 9 year old had so much fun we are trying a 30 day membership trial. There is also a free climb wall area for 16 and up only. Both times we went it was not to packed so easy for us to try all the different climbs. They also do birthday parties and my 9 year is thinking that may be where his next party is.

Great staff. Such great staff. They train you very well on how to use the equipment and stay safe so you can have a great time without any serious injuries. Some of the walls were more difficult than I’d anticipated but it was great. They have three options: You can ballet (sp?) with a partner, or use the pulley that does it for you, OR do the boulder wall without any harness. Tons of fun. Water fountain in the back if you forget to bring water Costs about $22 for a day pass including harness rental. Shoe rental is an extra $3

We were not that impressed with this place. They offer a trial class for $10. Both of the kids have been members of a climbing gym in NY in the past and loved it. One was asked to be on a climbing team before we moved. Both of my boys are school-age and we were going to sign them up for either the monthly homeschool classes or the after-school classes here at Canyons Rock. The trial class is supposed to be 1 1/2 hours. Not impressed and more time was spent on nonsense than climbing. The gym itself is small. The floor is coming apart. It doesn't seem too clean. The staff was friendly at first, but there are certainly some areas this gym really needs to work on. There were many moments when the kids were in areas directing themselves with climbing. Big no-no. The instructors are young and seem more in tune with wanting to socialize with one another than work with the kids. My favorite is when one of the instructors put a blanket around herself and started eating what appeared to be a bag of chips and sat on the floor. There should have been 15 mins left in the class, but instead the kids were told to play "Night at the Museum" and be "statues." These are KIDS! With energy! With 15 mins left in class you could have had the kids doing exercises, or stretching, or balancing activities. SOMETHING. Not tell the group of kids to be statues on the floor. Also, my older son asked if they could use chalk while climbing as that is what he was accustomed to at his old climbing gym. Here at Canyon Rock, their reply was," No You guys tend to make a mess of it." To say I was shocked is an understatement. Upon it being a trial class and we were really looking forward to signing up for some sort of monthly class, Canyon Rock never followed up to see how my kids enjoyed the trial class or to see if we wanted to sign up for any montly classes.. I guess they don't care. So disappointed. Knowing how other climbing gyms function and the experiences my kids have had at those, puts this...

I visited over Thanksgiving break in a group with 3 kids and two adults. We had fun, but left with an overall negative experience.

To start, it was convenient to be able to fill out the consent forms online and the day pass and rentals were reasonably priced. Despite the gym's small size, it wasn't too busy so the kiddos had fun.

However, my larger concern was the safety demonstration and inattentiveness of the staff. The man at the front desk only went as far as showing everyone how to clip in and out of the belay/autobelay in a very disinterested manner. Initially we weren't put off by this. He was just doing his job, the kids were excited, and we wanted to have a good time.

But much later a different staff came over and asked us to stop so that he could correct our belay technique. He was very polite and informative, but this was after the kids had gone up and down several times. I can't help but think that given how inexperienced our group obviously was (only one adult had experience), it should have been reviewed at the beginning for everyone's safety. It made me rethink the disinterest of the initial demo from bare minimum to negligence.

We also noticed that despite being informed that the bouldering sections were for 16+ only, there were children that couldn't be older than 10 climbing the walls while the staff were just standing and chatting with their backs turned. As I mentioned before, the gym wasn't busy when we went, so all it would've taken was a glance to see them.

The cherry on top was when we left, we all said thank you... only to be ignored as the group of staff were busy chatting amongst each other. Given the attitude and behavior of the staff, I do not think we will return and I would not...

I had both my girls on monthly and my wife made the autopay with credit card. When we went for out of country vacation over months and asked hold charging, they still charged. Worse case is when you stopped going climbing and asked to stop charging they said they will stop charging but still charged on that credit card for 8months! Once I found this issue, I contacted the manager and manager told the owner telling me he told my cell to the owner but I never received any response. I visited them two three times a week for 6 weeks and still no response from the owner! So I sued them and they blame it on their employee who left already and only willing to settle for the half the money. Five hundred back for over twelve thousand I just settled to close my headache but it shows how unethical these owner family is! They will not keep their promise of cancelling out or holding your payments! So only do one time payment! Use Amex so your card company be helping you out on charge backs Expect unethical attitudes! I just feel so sorry for their kids how their parents show such unethical actions and these owner family be acting like this every day of their life! We found trust worthy climbing in Plano. I hated when this owner family immoral act affected my girls climbing. Also beware when they offer shoes or equipment, they claim it's better price but same shoes my girls bought from them we find 60% less price was standard price in...
