Absolute gross negligence by management. There was a domestic violence altercation tonight. Physical violence, obscene cursing.... Basically a street fight situation. The GM, Justin Goldsmith, CHOSE NOT TO CALL THE POLICE despite a woman accosting and assaulting the other. The initial physical violence/attack lasted FOR FIVE MINUTES in the stands during a 12 year old basketball game!!!! Punches thrown, purses thrown, and every curse word you can imagine.
Once management initially arrived and separated the two ladies, the manager, Sal, asked the one who was accosted to "come talk it out with the other lady". We were all shocked, as the other lady was standing about 30 feet away yelling "I am going to kick your As _ Bitc_." The police should have been called- And asking the two adults, one of which was out of control, to talk it out in the middle of the crowded court area was a ridiculous ask. This was not a school playground issue. This was two grown women in a physical altercation.
After another 5 minutes they had their security "help the lady to the lobby, and finally out the door". She then waited outside so she could "finish" the fight (literally right outside the door, for 30 minutes. The police should have been called. Worst case scenario- She goes to her car, gets a weapon, and waits outside or returns inside the building. IF she was waiting for her daughter, should she have been required by “security” to stay in her car, not standing just outside the doors threatening the other lady?
Several of us asked Sal to call the police. He said he wasn’t allowed. As we were all fearing the lady would RE-enter and fight again, or worse considering the horrible active shooter events at the Duncanville Fieldhouse two days ago, we were all looking over our shoulder the rest of the game.
I finally had to call the Frisco Police via 911 --- 45 minutes after the incident began--- "because the Fieldhouse Frisco management said they wouldn't"- the police arrived in an amazing 90 seconds and the officers were also surprised they had not been called sooner. This was 45 minutes after the altercation began!!!! The domestic issue concerned accusations of an affair occurring. This is probably the most volatile type of domestic violence situation possible.
When I asked Mr Goldsmith why the police weren't called, his response was "our security escorted her out of the building". Yes, after approx 10-15 minutes of violence, and only to the glass doors where she stood waiting, continuing to scream obscenities and threats. Mr Goldsmith claimed it was because she was "waiting for her daughter" (who was supposedly playing basketball)? The same lady was continue to yell obscenities and threats from the front door for approx 30 minutes. The police should have been called as soon as management was alerted of a fight between adults!!!
FIeldhouse is a family venue. They are hundreds of kids ages 6 - 16 inside of it most house (it was standing room only tonight). The should be zero tolerance for this, and Police should be called when any violent encounters occur.
I am posting this because of my absolute disgust of how management handled the situation, how they did not call the police, and how they put several of us in danger. I will continue escalation.
Please understand I am a big fan of Fieldhouse, as my kids have played there for years. but what occurred tonight, and how it was handled by management, was unacceptable, dangerous, scary and not what we expect of...
Read moreI want to help other parents and hope that they talk their kids. This happened on June 20th [group 2] I do understand kids can become loud and rowdy, and I have read the Operational guidelines- below is the email I sent to Justin Goldsmith (general manager) and haven't heard back from him or Brianna Pettiford (camp director) Email- Today when I spoke to Brianna she had not had the opportunity to read my email, and had no idea of the incident. She stated that she was out of the office the whole week and had come back today--- yesterday when I requested to speak to her, I was told by the front desk that she was not available as she had already left for the day.
I spoke to Brianna about my concerns with her team and not adhering to the Operation Policies manual, that we as parents need to read prior to signing up our kids. There it clearly states " Using brief supervised separation or time out from the group, when appropriate for the child’s age and development, which is limited to no more than one minute per year of the child’s age"- I brought up this concern to her as my child's group was place by a wall for at least 15 - 20 minutes.
She dismissed my concern by stating the document was not updated- I stated that I was aware that the last update was done in 2020- in addition, she stated that as camp director, she trained the group leads to "use their brain" when having kids in time out. She also stated that many group leads are new.
With that information in mind, is even more concerning that:
The Operational Policies are not up-to- date The training that group- leads get is "to use their brain" The poor communication between group-leads, group director and facility
As a manager of this location, I would encourage you to maintain proper training for all individuals to establish good communication between teams as you guys are liable for children.
I look forward to hearing from you and the outcome of this situation.
end of email
I hope this place provides better training for the...
Read moreEver since the new Basketball Director (Cole) started I've noticed a lazy, arrogant, combative approach to customer service. I've coached basketball at the Fieldhouse for 4 consecutive years, when I started coaching back in 2014, the Basketball staff was friendly, helpful, and seemed to have the kids best interest in mind. Today, Cole uses a “my way or the highway” approach to serving the customer base that keeps him employed. My girls team was tricked into playing 2 grades up, once I noticed the error and asked for my team to be placed in the correct grade division, he said he couldn't do it because rosters were set. I pointed out that the rule book allows for roster adjustments for cases like mine and his response was that he simply will not honor his own rule book because it would take too much effort to move my team. The job of the Basketball Director should be to handle all basketball issues, whether they require effort or not. This is just one case of many I've dealt with since the new Director began. I've made plenty of friends who also coach here and share the same sentiment as I do. In addition, I've asked the General Manager to step in and help his Director, by emailing him directly and copying him on communication, but he refuses to step in and do what's right, and allows the Director to ignore customer service and arbitrarily make decisions based on effort. If I could give this ZERO...
