Man was I disappointed. I was so looking forward to this opening. I have been following this brewery on IG. Their latest post was promoting today's opening. It sounded amazing! We get there and it was packed as expected, parking $20 "private property" near by. So really? you couldn't work something out with this "private property" to allow your customers free parking?? They had free parking but it was packed and everything near by was $20- was I in Dallas? Then we go inside- packed- again as expected but was the patio opened? NOPE- closed because they were having "an event/concert" on opening night? So there was no place to sit down. The "concert" was a country thing in which 4-6 people were dancing and of course it was almost empty. Who was going to pay extra for that? And because of the storm everyone had to go back inside. And what I was wondering is why do this on opening night? You simply took space and tables from people who wanted to check this place out for nothing? The 2nd floor same thing- the balcony closed. Why? Then the long lines to get a drink. Which ok whatever- but then they have the nerve to have the minimum tip option 25%?? For what? After I stand 10+ on a line to then wait 5 minutes at least to be acknowledged and I am supposed to tip? After I am being over charged for any drink. I'm sorry but I have been in Frisco for more than 20 years and I have seen so many new businesses open and close in 6 ish months. And honestly I don't give this place more than a year. Unless they make it Frisco/family friendly ESPECIALLY in this economy. They may have rich investors but people here don't have the time or money to waste in a mediocre business. It is what it is. Hopefully they realize it soon enough and start thinking about their customers first. I do not see myself going back. Which again- sucks because I wanted it to be a cool place to go on the weekends after a long...
Read moreLong overdue review!! Plain and simple....love the place. For a small brewery, where do you find 10%, 12% and 14.5% Stouts? Where do you find multiple 10% IPAs? Usually in bigger breweries. But not with Rollertown!! You get the big brew beers with the small town attitude and down to earth people that enjoy drinking beer. Overall, nice that it's indoors and outdoors. Good room to sit in both areas. Dog friendly both in and out and kids friendly as well. Plenty of indoor board games, and outside there's a lot to do with cornhole and others activities. Food trucks are there regularly and they have some good ones that come in. And the variety is excellent, from tacos, to pizza to Hawaiian style to seafood. Diverse variety to please different types of people. Owners do a great job in making their presence known in terms of marketing. You know what's going on there all the time. You know what beers are on tap. You know they've got Bourbon and Vodka and mixed drinks done on site. You know what food is there and the days/times the trucks are there. Same with activities and events. Overall, very well organized in letting you know what's happening!! As a beer drinker, I love the variety and the range of beers they've got. For a small place, love the big, bold beers they produce. Love that I can get them in supermarkets as well. And best of all, Ben and Skin are there regularly and converse with the people there. Great way to promote what you believe in and show people why you are the gem of...
Read moreThis is a slightly unusual review, as I never made it into Rollertown. My wife and I were excited to pop in quickly on Saturday afternoon to grab a drink and see the new place. We didn’t have much time, and were only planning on being there for less than an hour. I was directed to park in the lot across the street, where they were charging $10. Considering we were not planning on being there long, I turned around, and was told that I could park along the street for free. That also was not a good option, as the closest spot was about a 10 minute walk away. So…there is an obvious issue here, as no other establishment in Frisco charges for parking, unless you are there for a concert or major sporting event. This should not be acceptable at Rollerworks as a normal course of business, despite how great I am sure it is. But this creates a significant obstacle, especially for a business that is trying to gain a strong following.
Update: As Rollertown responded to my initial review, I simply wanted to add my appreciation for acknowledging the issue and clarifying that the “pay” parking lot is not Rollertown’s property. That actually makes me feel better about the business, which by all accounts is fantastic, outside of the parking situation. The good news is that you are busy enough to have a parking issue. We will definitely be back, and this time...
