I visited on Sunday. I spent a Sunday afternoon at Frisco Commons Park, and it turned out to be the kind of place I didn’t know I needed. It’s one of those big, open parks that somehow feels both full of life and peaceful at the same time. As a solo traveler (and someone who just likes to wander on her own), I felt totally at ease the entire time.

When I first got there, I was surprised by how lively it was—but in a good way. There were families having picnics, kids running wild at the playgrounds, people walking their dogs, and little groups scattered across the grass just relaxing. It had that classic weekend energy—busy, but not overwhelming. Even though I came alone, I didn’t feel awkward or out of place for a second.

I brought my iced coffee and a little blanket, found a shaded spot under one of the huge oak trees, and just chilled for a while. The trees here are actually beautiful—there’s a ton of green space, walking trails, and even a small pond with ducks. I walked a few laps around the park, earbuds in, just vibing with the warm weather and sunshine. Super relaxing.

What stood out to me most was how clean and well-kept everything was. The restrooms were surprisingly nice (rare for a park), the trails were clear, and there were benches and picnic tables everywhere. I felt really safe the whole time—even when I was walking off on the quieter paths alone. There were enough people around that it never felt sketchy, but not so many that it was...

We absolutely love this park. A walking trail starts at the parking lot and leads past two enormous playgrounds, a fully stocked pond, and through a wooded area. The path is concrete and in great shape. Along the way, you can stop off and see the Veterans Memorial. Complete with sculptures, inscriptions, and memorial plaques, there is also a raised area that overlooks the north side of the Commons. As you continue on the paved path, you'll pass a large fully stocked pond with two fountains just before you cross into the woods. At the front of the park, just in front of the parking lot, there are two conjoined playgrounds - one geared more toward toddlers & very young kids, the other for slightly older kids. Both have a ton of well maintained toys & are surrounded by low wood fences so your little one can't wander off too easily. A splash pad (open seasonally, check dates before you go) on the east side of the park includes a covered area with tables & a restroom. There's another restroom on the west side of the park, but none on the far north side, so keep that in mind when you set off for a walk. In the center is a great covered pavillion with more tables. You'll frequently find impromptu fitness classes, dancing, and general good times...
