UPDATE 5/28/24: Second visit here and still 5 stars! My Mom and I were greeted by Melissa (she and her husband manage the place), then seated and handed Menus. I appreciate how they acknowledged and reconfirmed food allergies at the start of our visit. There have been instances (at other restaurants) in the past where my food allergies were not addressed or taken seriously, ultimately resulting in cross-contamination and a visit to the ER.
I strongly recommend an OpenTable reservation as you are guaranteed a table, since it tends to get rather busy during both lunch and dinner. Lunch special menus are offered as well as an all-day Menu. Food, service, and ambiance are the reasons we choose to return to Kitchen Master for subsequent visits.
Kent was our kind, courteous, and professional server. He made sure we had everything we needed We started things off with two Cherry Blossom Cocktails, followed by the dishes listed below which we shared. 1.) Basil Chicken with Steamed White Rice 2.) Shrimp Shumai 3.) Pan-Fried Pork Buns 4.) Custard Buns All excellent! The aesthetic quality, vibe, energy, and intimate dining space is what sets this place apart from other Asian restaurants. We chatted with Melissa - the manager - on our way out and we will continue to be regulars here going forward. Sheila Nayampalli ——————————————————————————— Stopped by for dinner here tonight with Mom at the suggestion of Yelp! Apparently, I have been living under a rock because this place has been here for four years. Made a reservation for a table for 4:45pm on 3/21/24 since I was not sure if it would be busy. Warm, inviting, and welcoming energy and space that gave me zen vibes right from the time we entered. Delightfully adorned to achieve an upscale, modern feel interspersed with and marked by Asian elements, we were promptly greeted and seated by the hostess - Faith - in a beautiful intimate dining setting, and transported to another realm. Before she seated us, she reconfirmed my eggplant and mushroom allergy. I always appreciate that (especially being first-time visitors) because it is clear that the kitchen is aware and takes it seriously. Wonderful first impression and that was just the beginning of our extraordinary culinary journey. I especially marveled at the bamboo steamer basket lights hanging from above and the wall dividers in the shape of dumplings. They truly lend an aesthetic value to the space. What a cute and creative idea. You even get to see them making the dumplings 🥟 in action behind the partition. It’s really neat.
Mia, our kind and attentive server arrived at our table within a minute and we ordered Hot Jasmine Tea to start. Fragrant, full-bodied, and accented by floral notes, it was the ideal accompaniment to the remainder of our meal. Mia was extremely patient with us as we told her it was our first visit and she suggested different things we could order. We ordered a total of six dishes to share. Perfect portions at reasonable prices. All dishes exceptional. Mia timed the arrival of dishes perfectly. She even told me to let her know when I was ready and to take my time so she could start on the Custard Bun Dessert Order.
1.) 1 order of Scallion Pancake 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 2.) 1 order of Chili Sauce Noodles 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3.) 1 order of Basil Chicken 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.) 1 order of Shrimp Shumai 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5.) 1 order of Pork Soup Dumplings 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 6.) 1 order of Custard Buns 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A perfect way to end a meal. The combination of the mellow, subtle, not-too-sweet custard flavor and soft texture and chew of the buns was perfect. My favorite dish of the night. Absolutely, without a doubt, the star of the show.
Mia gave us a 15% discount card good for our next visit. Will definitely return for lunch another day or try other dinner menu items on our next visit. Looks like we found our new place. Faith and Mia were the true standouts during our first visit. We will be regulars here going forward. Thank you and we will see...
Read moreI enjoy hand made dumplings and noodles as much as the next guy, but damn… these were amazingly good!
Overall, service was spot on during dinner hours, and the staff constantly checked on our table.
The food… oh my the food… it was probably some of the best noodles and dumplings I have had in the North Texas area.
The soup dumplings were great. I would say they could probably use a little more broth inside of them, but that would have been my only complaint. They were delicious on their own, and tasted even better when dipped into a small dish of black vinegar and fresh ginger slices.
I had the chili sauce noodles. I love a simple noodle dish like this and I don’t even mind that it isn’t served with a meat. Honestly, some pork belly would be great here, but I thoroughly enjoyed this plate as it was, noodles, bok choy, and plenty of tasty chili sauce in the bottom.
The house wontons were simple and delicately tasty. We had the pork, but you have the option for a vegetable only wonton.
The pan fried buns were also a very simple take on a pork bao but they were coated with sesame seeds on the bottom and fried til golden brown and crispy. No burnt buns here! Would order again!
The minced pork noodles, although a bit monotone on the flavor, were still very delicious. The flavor here was really good, but it’s kinda like a good song with only a few musical notes. We would have liked a bit more complexity in the flavor but that’s a personal taste issue and not a fault on Kitchen Masters.
Best egg drop soup I have tasted in a long time as well. It was fantastically executed and way better than any other run of the mill soup. It reminded us of the delicious soups we enjoyed while visiting Chinatown in LA many years ago. It brought back fond memories of recipes passed down from past generations and a general love for good Chinese cuisine.
Even the chilled cucumber salad was worth the price. Cucumbers marinated in a sweet vinegar sauce with slices of garlic and red pepper. It was a perfect compliment to the meal as a whole and added that sweet and sour profile to the palate.
Overall, I can’t wait to come back here! I want to try more foods from the menu and see what else they have to offer! No eaters remorse here in any sense...
Read moreBeen going to this restaurant for a year or two now and it USED to be amazing and some of the best chinese food in the area and the food and service has gone down so much. Just ordered takeout online on the website and the printed receipt CLEARLY says 1 fried rice with egg & beef and the second order says 1 beef rice noodle. We got a beef rice noodle that lacked flavor and was very oily. The second order was completely different and was some type of soup with thick noodles and vegetable which is wayyy off from egg fried rice, i would sort of understand if SOMEHOW they mixed up the beef rice noodle with the soup thing but how could you mix up fried rice on a website order with a printed receipt?? The soup smelled disgusting and i didn’t even want to eat anymore. Wish this restaurant stayed the same as it was a year ago.
Update - 9/10
I just went back here because i am sick and wanted to look for a good soup nearby and saw their wonton soup online, i placed a order with VEGETABLE wontons and when we go there, they tell us the wontons have a pork filling. When ordering online i specifically clicked replace wontons with vegetable filling and when we get there, its pork. When asking the staff to change it to vegetable wonton, they tell us all vegetable menu items have pork. This is absurd that they label their food as vegetarian and they tell us that ALL OF THEIR VEGETABLE ITEMS CONTAIN PORK. How can people with dietary restrictions eat at this place? This restaurant has the worst service out of anywhere i’ve ever been to. When we asked to change the order, the manager rudely refused and so we asked for a refund, and they straight up said “we dont do refunds” now i have to dispute the charges because i cant even eat pork when the food we ordered was label as “vegetarian.” Last time coming here. Really disappointed,...
