We visited Base Camp Provisions for the grand opening. We were here to visit with friends and family and was told about the Opening. Wasn’t sure what to expect in the town of Fruita. What a great surprise tucked into this beautiful town. Some key highlights from our amazing experience: 1- Not your usual bar food – the restaurant is run and managed by Chef Josh with food that you don’t expect at a brewery (e.g. Cuban Pork sandwich, Poutines in various combinations, mussels with amazing sauces, pozole and on and on; top this with amazing locally crafted beers and you won’t go wrong and you will come back; 2 - Fantastic selection of tap beers (17 or more!) – and if you are in Grand Junction, be sure to visit another of their locations – Base Camp Beer Works; our next stop for sure 3 - Ryan, the lead mixologist, knows his mixed cocktails and makes them with top shelf ingredients; 4 - Then there is the seating and environment - great outside seating and large space for kids to run around and super pet and bike friendly; saw a lot of dogs and bicycles leveraging the outside areas; 5 - Beautiful inside decorum – even with the natural beauty of the outside setting, the inside is just as beautiful and inviting; 6 - Amazing seating inside/outside through the large, shuttered windows so you can sit on both sides – allows groups to enjoy both areas at the same time particularly with dogs; 7 - And not to forget the amazing outside acoustics for the incredibly talented live band (Wave11) contributed to the final awesome atmosphere. Can’t wait to hear the next talented group to play in this perfect venue; 8 - And finally, the staff who were running around supporting the Grand Opening crowd of smiling warm people, were all friendly, efficient, and helped maintain that Colorado hospitality, we natives know well. Of course, the Opening was hugely anticipated so the food line was long, but everyone seemed to say it was well worth the wait. We are...
Read moreReally enjoy this new spot! It’s awesome that they serve cocktails along with beer. The fries are great! Did not like the charcuterie board. Think they could really do better there. Atmosphere is awesome. One lady was letting her gaggle of children run and scream and jump and climb all over the tables which was so annoying at a brewery where adults go to chill maybe go to a park lady. But other than that it was so great and we will totally be back! Staff was super friendly and line moved quickly.
Edited to add a response to the owners question: yes the meats were strange except for one. Most of the time you can decipher what you’re eating when you order a board at a restaurant but no one at my table could figure out what those were, they had almost a spam like consistency and there was a strangely placed pile of lettuce in the center we weren’t sure what that was about. It was almost like the board was too big for the amount of food you wanted to serve on it so you just filled it with a pile of lettuce. I order a board almost everywhere we go. This one was very different. Regardless we love it there and can’t wait...

To be honest it's really hard to find decent Asian food in the city and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their pork belly in the vermicelli salad. The Thai curry mussels were also solid and had legitimate Thai flavors. And the korean fried chicken tasted double fried like I've gotten in korea. We've also gotten their duck confit poutine which was indulgent and rich, but that gorgonzola was to die for. The mezze platter is great to share too - some of the best baba ganoush we've had! Lastly, I really appreciate they use anchovies in their ceaser.
Ok, bottom line, food is awesome. Beers are good. Hanging out with puppies on their sunny patio can't be beat....
