Gainesville Escape Game — Attraction in Gainesville

I feel bad leaving this review but I feel that its a must so people are aware and hopefully they can adjust these downfalls. I have done about 5 escape rooms at this point so I know what to expect when doing one. When i first walked in the person at the front was super nice and I have nothing bad to say about the location or the welcoming nature of the employee. Those were the great parts about this place. Now for the downfalls. After my experience i did not feel satisfied. One of the biggest (and most annoying) aspects of the escape room was during the actual game the employee watching us would not stop talking. It got to the point where i figured a clue out loud and he said "yes you got it" before i even put the clue down to open the next part of the puzzle. I appreciate the encouragement but I had not asked for a hint at this point nor did I want someone confirming the clues without me even trying them. This continued throughout the experience. Another down fall and to add to the previous is that the employee watching us would randomly offer hints without us even asking for them and this got annoying because we wanted to figure thing out ourselves and not be spoon fed the answers. Lastly, I want to point out that the clues overall were very misleading and almost did not go with the theme. There is one escape room with the theme of an asylum/ hospital and there was a clue with birds on it that made no sense nor did it even go with the theme. It was super random and I felt like they included it because they ran out of puzzles to include? There was multiple times this occurred and the clues were just abstract and did not go with the theme. Also last downfall, when we started the employee put us in the room and closed the door and started the timer, without giving us a back story to the room. He later returned 30 seconds after and was like "sorry I've been doing this all day" and then gave us a very quick out of order back story that made no sense. Overall not impressed and would probably not return.

We had a terrible experience. We did the Pandemic room. There was only one staff member that was overwhelmed with managing incoming guests and watching current game rooms. It’s not their fault that they were the only person there, but they need more staff present for things to run smoothly. We were asking for a hint for 15 minutes with no response. Finally, I had to call the front desk number on my phone to get their attention. Obviously, no one was watching us as we were in the room. So we wasted time so much time. Some of the clues in the room were broken or missing pieces. When I explained this to the staff member afterwards, they didn’t seem to care. One of the locks in the room was put in backwards, which made it practically impossible to open with its weird angle. It doesn’t seem like they actually check their rooms often to make sure everything is in functioning order. We unknowingly skipped a few steps in the room because a previous group had left some of their notes; we thought their notes were part of the room and this created a lot of confusion. It was my first time at this specific place. I have done many escape rooms, but I wouldn’t go back to this one. We were too busy being frustrated with how poorly managed the place was to enjoy...

We have played probably about 100 escape rooms all over Florida and South Carolina. We love to play them. We decided to try the America Escape Pandemic room. Had a wonderful time. The room was hard but not impossible. Every single puzzle was solvable if you thought about it enough. We divided forces and solved independently, which I think was a big help. Big shout out to our Puzzle Master Alondra. Alondra provided just the right amount of nudges at just the right times to help us along in our play. Seemed to get a feel for our play style very quickly, and reacted accordingly. Very sweet, very professional. She was an absolute treasure!! We almost made it out in time, but didn’t. Fortunately since the time after ours wasn’t booked, Alondra gave us extra time to finally escape. Can not say enough good things about Alondra and the overall experience.
