My wife and I booked a trip to AAA so we could have a honeymoon. The first thing we found out when we arrived here there’s no parking for cars so the Hiatt charges you $200 for the week the park your vehicle also they don’t clean the rooms and they also don’t put in new towels and toiletries. The gym itself that they have here is horrible. There’s no weights whatsoever such as Nautilis and other things. They have mostly stuff for cardio and some dumbbells and that’s it. My wife and I had a problem with the toilet because all the water went on the floor, so we called the service desk. There is no maintenance people on call for this establishment. what we also didn’t like we requested to get new towels in our room so we could take a shower. We have to be complaining for a few days straight and still haven’t gotten anything. Well this hotel is a joke. They only care about making money the only thing that we will say that we like here is they don’t have a free breakfast in the morning, which is good and the staff members are also very nice. They work behind the counter, but the rest of the place is a joke. Do not waste your time coming here bucket at another hotel not this one. I am going to the Better Business Bureau when I get home to file for complaint, including with my AAA, travel agent these people should not be in business whatsoever. It’s very sad because we have met a lot of the different people behind the service desk. That are when you check in. They are extremely nice but they work for crappy company such as the Hiatt don’t waste your money here. The beds that they have in this room are extremely uncomfortable and I do mean that it’s not good for anyone who is an arthritis suffer or anyone. The beds that they have in...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I stayed here for one night over the weekend. It was raining when we arrived and as the hotel is located downtown there was nowhere to park and no valet attendant.
We parked in a nearby parking garage and carried our luggage into the hotel. There was a young valet attendant when we walked in. It took him a few seconds to notice we were standing in front of him. He had his AirPods in his ears and was playing a game attentively on his phone.
Got up to our room and it was nice enough. We both noticed there were a set of ear plugs near the tv. Didn’t think anything of it. Went to dinner across the street and back to the hotel bar for a drink. Decided to go outside on the bar patio and there were a few dirty towels likely from the nearby pool thrown all over the chairs and empty drink bottles and glasses cluttering the tables.
Not the greatest visual experience but not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. We climbed into bed before midnight and all we could hear for a good solid 3 hours were cars bumping music at a noise level so loud it felt like the room was vibrating.
It didn’t stop. Horns honking, yelling, more music, you name it. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in various cities and I can honestly say this was the worst night of sleep (or lack there of) I’ve ever had.
Don’t get me wrong I listen to music in my vehicle loud but not like this where it quite literally vibrates. The hotel itself was nice, valet was not as a similar experience happened upon checkout (kids on their phones, not paying attention), didn’t eat the free breakfast offered and again, the noise was terrible.
If you value sleep,...
Read moreVery noisy loud thumping music from across the street. This was a Tuesday night room 537. Went on for quite some time, we had returned from dinner after ten and the thump thump thump went on for a few hours. Valet parking was strange in that all afternoon our car never left where we pulled it in front of hotel to unload, where we ourselves parked it, and yet a charge for valet parking ?? Will inquire about this. Bartender second floor lobby not too knowledgeable it seemed (?) Otherwise, room clean and new. Comfy bed. Not sure would stay again. We will see what second night reveals, as we are here for two day family reunion. Before you book here, ask about the thumping club noise... as others have mentioned in reviews. To be continued...........ok, second night, loud thumping music again. It stopped a bit earlier than than previous night. Upon entering first floor lobby, we all thought there was a strange odor in the building both days. Upon check out staff graciously removed valet parking fee from our bill as our car was never moved from loading zone where we had pulled it in ourselves. We theorized they could not drive a stick shift car with manual transmission. Staff friendly enough, room modern but spartan, comfy bed, nice shower. So so area of downtown Gainesville. A probation office nearby, a woman assaulted one block away while we were there.... Amelia Italian nearby was very good for our dinner for 9 people. Overall ok but not sure would return. At least the check out person was very good to waive the "valet" charge since car was never...
