Visited this course on my birthday. When we approached to purchase our tickets we noticed the "birthday club" sign up card for a free round of golf. Inquired about it but the employee said no, you have to sign up in advance. Then surprisingly he added, "if it were me I wouldn't do it because you'll get a whole lot of emails then". Not exactly going to win employee of the month with that sales pitch. So as we were getting ready to pay we noticed a significant discount price for seniors, which we were. He then said, "oh, I already rang it up, I don't know how to refund any money". So we paid full price, minus $1 discount for having a competitor coupon. Now, the course is itself in terrible disrepair. Many of the holes astroturf are quite torn up. Not just a little tear here or there but large pieces actually missing. There are so many more courses on the Grand Strand to choose from. Don't waste your time here. Quite a boring course too. No challenge, virtually no obstacles (other than ripped carpet). Strongly recommend...

I hate to even give them one star. We went at 7:15 pm and I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. We played the Dunn River which was supposed to have water but there was none. There were two places that the water was setting in like a little pond that looked like it had algae in it. There was poison ivy and frogs everywhere. The lights didn’t work so you couldn’t even see the holes. There were so maybe leaves on the greens that you couldn’t plan where the ball was going. This was awful. I don’t know how they are still in business. The wooden handrails were rotten. Someone is going to really get hurt here. We just can’t believe how horrible this place was. Runaway Bay is a good name because I would RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN AND AS FAR AS YOU CAN. All kidding aside don’t waste your money. RUN...

We stopped here on vacation with friends and we encountered an extremely rude and unwelcoming employee. We were playing the course with our children and a couple balls went off course into the landscaping and water. When we went up to get replacement golf balls, an older male employee chastised us demanded to know what was happening with the balls. We played the course through, despite his poor attitude, and at the end of the game, the children wanted ice cream. He told us he’d sell us ice cream but we’d have to “take it and go”. This is an annual trip that our friends make and they said this is not the type of service they’ve gotten before, but this man’s behavior makes them rethink visiting again. There’s no shortage of mini-golf or ice cream places here, so we’ll play somewhere else...

If aesthetics are your only concern, this is absolutely the place. One of the most beautiful mini golf courses on the Grand Strand. The views are outstanding and the vegetation is very well manicured. The other side of the coin, if you want to compete or 'shoot a score', be advised this isn't the course. The turf is good and the layout is decent, but they really need to ditch the mats. No one, likes the mat, it causes an inaccurate shot from the beginning of each hole and speaking of the holes, they are terrible. Inconsistent and impossible to guess what might happen when your ball rolls anywhere near. Fun for the family, but don't try, you'll turn into that guy.

This was the worst putt putt course we’ve played. Horrible experience… Started with a conversation asking for a discount for locals, they don’t do it after 6pm and ITS OUT OF SEASON. It was $50 for 4 people and that’s with a 6 year old. The signage was peeling and was almost impossible to read multiple places. When you get to the first couple holes you see nothing but leaves… a 5 minute fix to just blow the turf off. THE LIGHTING WAS ALMOST DANGEROUS!! We took our out of town mom and her sister(both in their 70s) and we had to almost escort them around. AS LOCALS WE WONT BE BACK!!

Overall it's a fun experience, and good value for two rounds - especially with a Groupon. The two guys working were really nice, too. There are some course cosmetics in need of an upgrade though. Greens that are bubbled up or ripped, leaves and debris on the greens, loose bricks, no water flowing throughout most of the course, etc. It was fun, overall, but the experience could have been better with a more maintained course. Our three young kids enjoyed it, especially getting ice cream in between rounds! But I'd like to see improvements before I'd return.
