Wow, that was an hour of my life I'll never get back. Do not come here if you want to buy a game console. I'd like to know who was pricing their PSX consoles at $140 and a GBA at $200 so I can either ask them to share what drugs they're on, or put them in a fancy rehab somewhere in Vienna because that is the only thing that's going to dig them out of a delusional hole that deep.
Seriously, Wii's at $150? You couldn't give them away for free if you tried. An ancient, outdated DSI at $140. For context: The same price point will net you a New 3DS XL for that, maybe less. And a lone, depressed Xbox 360 in a corner, for $95, begging an underpaid employee to put it out of its misery. The only thing I saw that was priced appropriately were the PS4's, and only because they had so many of them. If I had a way to check the firmware, I might have sprung for one.
Rest of the store makes me want to double-dose my antidepressants. Wall to wall unsorted anime and manga scattered everywhere and designed to be as confusing as possible. Beady-eyed rows of identical Funko toys that will never escape our lives, our dreams, our culture. Antiquated forms of physical media like music cd's, books, and $1 comics that will never find a home. Blurays and dvds from a time past, not forgotten but certainly not missed either.
Bookoff used to be great, they had a store at the westminster mall before it collapsed a number of years ago. But now, it looks like a glorified swap meet that should require their employees to distribute a barf bag upon entry to...
Read moreA gem of a store, I wish more existed in the area. The staff is very friendly and patient with customers who are not familiar with how to sell. The selling process is straightforward and didn't take an unreasonable amount of time on a busy holiday weekend. The store always has rotating stock of stuff, so coming every couple months is like a new experience each time.
The pricing to buy items is obviously going to be inflated, but some stuff, like video game consoles are wildly overpriced. $200 for a PS4/Xbox One or DS Lites for $150 is crazy. Game pricing is a bit more reasonable and close to pricecharting. Other older items are mostly priced below what you would expect so if you're looking for specific general media this is a well stocked location.
This place should stop accepting Funkos ASAP. The store is already overrun with them and the chance that most of them are going to move is low. Not a good use of space that could otherwise be used for more popular...
Read moreOnly one Register open and apparently that is all they have. I waited 15 min with 5 others I front of me and three behind. Cashier got offended when this was pointed out as taking too long. 1) Book Off is supposed to be convenient or I can wait a day or two and purchase on Amazon for a less price each time I look an item up - sometimes it is a lot less. A lot of the Manga I can get NEW at Barnes and Noble using their 20% off membership. Example- JoJo series. This 20.00 retail manga sells for 18 at Book off. B&N sells it for 16.00 - NEW! There were 6 workers at least in the store. So you’re not convenient and you’re not at price parity. The only thing you got is providing touch and a variety with the potential of seeing something new or unique. I love bookstores - always have - today’s experience just makes me go to Amazon. ...
