Well, who else none other than me would accidently take my family to a "Portal to Hell" cleverly disguised with the cutesie name of "Hippie Tree". It wasn't until in the car on the way there when I happened to be reading out loud to my family the history of the tree and why exactly we were taking paint to graffiti a random tree in the middle of the woods, that I suddenly realized the accidental history lesson I was providing to my kids just moments from our destination. My 5 year old twins and 9 year old daughter were left with many questions after Mommy began reading out loud information regarding the tree's famous history... that it was referred to as the "portal to hell" from previous residents of the asylum, the legend of the priest that was found hanging in the tree and where the whimsical nickname "Hippie Treee" actually derived from. But it's run its course and it is dying pretty hard and isn't in the shape it used to be once upon a time. I can tell a dramatic difference from when I was first going there in 2011 to what it is...
