It's easy to write a glaring review about coffee from a coffee shop. Make no mistake, my mocha was most enjoyable. What inspired me to divulge my experience, however, was the unanticipated breakfast burrito.
I wasn't necessarily in search of sustenance. I quickly glanced at their noon menu and decided I could use a breakfast snack. I hadn't eaten since the evening before and intermittent fasting was testing my resolve. I'm not normally a fan of burritos, but the ingredients were enticing and I was happy to see that I wouldn't have to manually remove any unwanted additions.
Having fed the kids and finished half the mocha, I decided it was about time to satiate my own carnal desires. As enthusiastic as a toddler told to brush his teeth, I unwrapped the piping hot burrito and dove in...
Oh my heavens to Betsy. Thick gooey cheese, fluffy scrambled eggs, juicy meat and hearty potatoes. This meal was patiently handcrafted with more love and tenderness than I have felt in years (sorry kids). And the side of salsa was simply the icing on the cake, if the cake was a burrito and the icing was salsa.
To say this was filling would also be an understatement. I came for a snack and left with an Italian wedding sized portion. It was comparable to a rolled up medium sized pizza intended for two hungry collegiate wrestlers. As I write this review I am waddling back to the car like a full term mother bearing twins.
All in all, this cafe burrito has been the highlight of my memorial day weekend. With a vacation filled with tours, wineries, shopping and museums, any sane person would think this statement absurd and overflowing with hyperbole...

Read moreOk, I already raves to the staff directly but they need a standing ovation here!!! I have stopped before and already enjoyed their great coffee. This week I stopped in hoping to also grab some brunch with a friend. We had tried several places recommended to us who were all booked up due to need for a "Covid reservation". When we got to Cuppa Joe, the employees were kind, happy to see us and more than happy to help however they could. Their entire demeanor made our day as many of our Traverse City stops were less than enthusiastic for opening "tourist" season, but Cuppa Joe was the complete opposite. Our food was AMAZING. Do not underestimate what they have to offer because they are a "small business". My friend got their BLT, I got the open faced Egg Salad Sandwich. We went half on each to give them both a try. The BLT was made with Sun dried tomatoes and I can't believe I have never done this myself! So so so good. The egg salad not only floored us on flavor but we could not believe how such a basic sandwich had been SO elevated in flavor! We agreed it was our favorite! Thank you so much to the Staff who worked there on 5/2/21! Food was perfect, you were all so pleasant, and we are thankful you even carried food out to our table! If you all just keep being wonderful this business is going to...
Read moreWe were visiting Traverse and originally planned to try one of the brunch spots at The Village, but most were fully booked. We thought Cuppa Joe was just a coffee shop — and we’re so glad we went inside and checked out the menu!
Everything we tried was delicious. The pesto sandwich was amazing, the BLT instantly became my favorite (and the reason we’ll definitely come back!), and my son loved the open egg salad sandwich. The egg sausage sandwich was another hit — so good!
On top of that, the drinks were exceptional. Highly recommend the Diablo (a coffee with a little heat — so unique!) and the chai latte, which my daughter and I loved. For smoothies, try the Calypso (yum!) and the green smoothie — both were refreshing and flavorful.
Hands down, the best breakfast ever. Hidden gem in Traverse! A hole in the...
