"Not What I Expected – More Americanized Than Traditional"
I was excited to try Spanglish Tacos because it looked delicious and very authentic, but my experience didn’t quite match my expectations. I ordered three traditional beef street tacos and a side of Spanish rice. The food came out extremely fast, within about three minutes, which made me question its freshness. When food comes out that quickly, it's usually been pre-cooked and held in a warming station, rather than made to order.
To make matters worse, my order was wrong—I received chicken instead of beef. Ironically, I ended up liking the chicken much more than the beef after trying both. I give them credit for fixing the issue immediately, but it still threw off the experience. Another thing I found odd was that they didn’t have lime to top off the tacos, which, being Spanish myself, I found strange for a taco spot.
The food overall was flavorful, and the tacos were juicy, but they didn’t taste as fresh as I’d expect from a good taquería. The beef, in particular, didn’t hit the mark for me. As for the Spanish rice, it was more like jasmine rice, which I’m more used to seeing in Japanese dishes than Mexican food.
In the end, Spanglish Tacos felt more like an Americanized version of street tacos than a traditional experience. The food wasn't bad by any means—just not what I personally look for in street tacos. While the place was busy, so clearly many people enjoy it, I likely won’t be back, as it didn’t meet my expectations for authenticity. If you’re into more modern takes on tacos, you might love it, but for me, I prefer my tacos old school and...
Read moreThe food here was pretty good. Definitely a step above just about any other downtown Tex Mex (although not in the same league as the taquerias on Silver Lake Road and 3 Mile road). My main problem here was the hot sauce, or more specifically the lack thereof.
I ate here the other day and when I was served my food I immediately asked for some hot sauce. I was told that they sold it and that you had to order it. The first problem there is that nobody else does that. Every taco or burrito place just has that available as a condiment, usually several options. That Spanglish wanted to charge me for it was am unpleasant surprise.
On top of that, I had waited in line quite a while to order, and while waiting for my food the line had gotten even longer. Did this hippy expect me to wait in line for another 15 minutes in order to buy a $1.00 dollop of hot sauce? Apparently so, since she turned around and walked away.
I'm not one to go complain. I just never return to a business that pisses me off. But this is pretty dumb. Just give your customers...

Our party of 4 had the pleasure of finally visiting Spanglish! With so many delicious dining options in the TC area it’s hard to choose!? But after receiving countless recommendations to check out Spanglish we made the trip and it blew our expectations out of the water!! We ordered a variety of options including 3 different taco options, 2 different tamales, a big daddy burrito, tostada and chips with salsa. Everything arrived in a timely manner, was freshly prepared and hot but most importantly full of flavor!! There is very limited indoor seating so getting carry out or coming during outdoor dining season is ideal for a more relaxed, dine in experience. In addition to the freshly prepared options, Spanglish also offers several items to go that are either cold or frozen to enjoy at a later date. Do yourself a favor and make Spanglish your NEXT...
