Quite simply the cake made for our event was a disaster. Initially we felt comfortable after consulting with their bakery department to place the order. The cake produced however, was not made with basic professional standards. Lemon filling was just smeared on top of the bottom base so the second layer slid off like melting ice as we put it in the car. Also they didn't have a box fitted to stabilize the cake which is a normal procedure. By the time we reached our party destination the cake was a mess. We called the bakery to explain our dissatisfaction but unfortunately we became more upset with the customer service because the bakery didn't take responsibility. Fortunately the phone was passed to a member of the party who is familiar with cake making procedures and after they told the Baker how the cake should have been properly constructed the bakery offered a complete refund. Helpful advice to the bakery: more training for layer cake construction, custom cake boxing construction, customer service training on how to resolve issues without blaiming the customer for failed cake making. Thank God it was a double party and the other person had a cake that had the same filling and was correctly done by meijer that we could use as on the table even thou it was a princess cake. It was a total embarrassment. Thanks for ruin my son birthday party. Update: went back to the store to speak with customer service . The cashier was very pleasant and apologetic, excellent customer skill. However, the head cashier seemed annoyed by my complaint she didn't stated who she was never apologize, never took responsibility she pretty much just told me to my face that I shouldn't have tilt the cake when putting it in the car (fyi your baker assist in putting it in the car and saw it was falling apart, admitted it might still be a little warm and she shook it back in place), it's my fault and its company policy I can only get back half of the cost!!! A gentleman final came out and finally decided to give a full refund after the head cashier finished arguing with me. I've been working in management and customer service for over 10 years and I'm appalled by how I was treated. Will never recommend or use the...
Read moreLove this place for Local products, Locally owned and operated. Grocery selection is pretty good. Fresh vegetables and fruits are basic. Do t go looking for fresh Lemongrass. However you find local Turkey breast, Ground Lamb, IQF Scallops, and the normal CoVid.selection of products.
Don't expect to find much in the way of paper or cleaning supplies. They have it, but it is super basic. Gas stations sometimes have more of selection.
Thompson Pharmacy is top notch, very helpful and havr done a few quick RX re-fills when I forget to call them in.
The front end staff is always friendly and if I can't find it they typically can find it in back. The Meat Department has been helpful in that...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped at Olsen's yesterday. Though they do support the community, they are terrible for the environment. And being in Traverse City where many people are environmentally sound, Olsen's fail deeply. They sell so many products in plastic clam shell containers, meaning they buy in bulk and transfer to environmentally unfriendly plastic. They also seem to encourage those sinful plastic bags rather than encourage the consumer to bring in the reusable shopping bags to the store. They are as bad as Meijers or Walmart when it comes to single use plastic. Get with it Olsen's. Shame, Shame! If you really want to help the community, help our beautiful...
