5/07/25: I had a terrible experience at this location today. Around 5:30 pm I stopped by the store to see about resolving an issue about a store credit not having been activated on their card stemming from a return over the Christmas Holidays. The amount would have been about $14. I spoke with Michele, middle aged African American female, at the cashier's counter. There were no customers behind me, and she was the only cashier at the time. I explained what I stopped by for, and she did not appear to want to understand what I was telling her. I noticed her starting to be rude, and I requested to speak with a manager. She started to raise her voice, and I asked her not to do that. She started pointing her finger at me and stated, "do not try me, today is not the day". Her whole attitude caught me off guard, and she even said that she would have me taken to jail. She also stated that I may have found the store card on the floor and was trying to get some money. I told her not to question my integrity.
I walked away from the counter and waited on a manager. Kevin appeared, and as I started to speak with him, she tried to interject herself in our conversation. I asked Kevin to step farther away from her counter, so that we could have a conversation. At that point, I told Kevin that I was no longer concerned about the inactivated store credit, and that I was more concerned about Michelle's very negative attitude and demeanor towards me. She blew things out of proportion and I didn't take kindly to that. I had been a customer since the store's soft opening, and had never had a negative experience like this. Kevin advised that I call the number on the back of the card, as he was very limited on what he could do without a receipt.
Itâs extremely disappointing to see someone like Michelle, working at At Home, who is very unprofessional, clearly dislikes her job, and is definitely not suited for a customer facing environment. Customers come here to have a nice shopping experience while searching for the right items for their home. Michele's lack of customer service damages At Home's reputation, and upper management should seriously reconsider keeping...
Read moreMy wife and I have been loyal customers at the Garland location of At Home for years, and we have generally enjoyed our experiences there. However, today was a terribly disappointing and concerning experience during the checkout process, specifically with a cashier named Barbara.
As we waited to check out, we noticed Barbara make eye contact with us, only to put her head down as if she didn't see us waiting. My wife and I, being mild-mannered individuals, tried to shake it off, but after an awkward four-minute wait, Barbara hastily called us over. She made it clear that she had an attitude, as she didnât greet us at all, despite us purchasing about 16 pillows.
After ringing up five pillows, I had to ask her if we could please have a bag for them. With an attitude, she began bagging our pillows. We understood that everyone has a bad day, but the situation got even more concerning . While we thought Barbara was just having a rough day, we noticed her interacting with her associate, Denise, and she was perfectly pleasant with her. However, her demeanor toward us remained cold.
After ringing up our items, Barbara asked if we wanted to save 10% by signing up for a credit card. I replied that I might have considered it if she had at least greeted us. She looked perplexed, seemingly unwilling to acknowledge her unpleasant attitude. I smiled and simply asked for the receipt before we left.
While I donât want to overthink what Barbara's issue was, I canât ignore that we were the only African-Americans in the store. As we were leaving, we saw Barbara greet the next customer with warmth and friendliness. Unfortunately, I am unsure why she treated us differently, but this experience will not deter us from shopping at At Home, as we love the store. Moving forward, we will simply make it a point to avoid Barbara...
Read moreI've been coming to this location for a little over two years now. I always had a very pleasant experience in the past but today this older white heavy-set woman (whom I do not recognize from my past visits) was very cold to me versus other non-Latino patrons. She didn't say hello to me as I approached her counter. Yes, she greeted the person before me and had a pleasant interaction with them as well even said "Thank you, happy forth" at the end. She didn't even try to bag my items while I was paying with my At Home credit card. Almost expecting my card to decline. She even had a little tantrum when I said I didn't need a bag, tossing the candle I was buying towards me. I know when I'm not being respected so I didn't want to spend another 5 seconds with her. And yup you guessed it, no thank you at the end. I had to say thank you and she said "um hum" and proceeded to immediately talk to another coworker. I guess it's time to start shopping...
