We hadto first purchase the cable car lift tickets at the bottom in Gatlinburg that bring you up the mountain . Thats $19 for the day you can go up and down on day of purchase all you want. I didn't know you could drive up the mountain to where the park is. The cable car brings you near the top around 2700 feet , this is as high as it goes this location is where the parking lot is if you drive up . To reach the top 3750 feet above sea level. Awesome views would love to see the mountains snow covered. At the top you have to purchase a wristband or buy individual tickets for the activities. The best option is the $39 some of the attractions you can only ride once like the coaster ride which is lots of fun , you can indoor ice scate, they have snack shops that have fries ,hot dogs , we ordered a pizza that surprised us it had real mozzarella cheese, we asked for sausages for topping it was a large pie did not expect it to be good it looked great and was awesome. They have a small hiking trail, we played mini golf. You have to ride a separate ski lift to reach the very top that's fun just sitting going up slow I enjoy it my wife hates it no charge with the wrist band. At the top there was a country band playing nusic was nice . Love the views then back on ski lift down. We did a maze that's fun kids will love it . There's rock climbing not for me ,also they some kiddie rides cars, swings. The have a small zoo of animals that come from the area hurt and have rehab there some cant return to the wild . We saw 3 bears ,eagle, hawks, owls, they had otters, a first me never seen an albino raccoon they have 1. Its very nice to visit during both winter and summer, I asked about the snow because that area is know for very lite snow falls dont get much . A park worker told me they have some retention ponds that collect all the rain fall for snow making. We had lots fun enjoyed ourselves . A tip if traveling on a budget or if this is your last stop just drive up to the top of the mountain it says Ober Gatlinburg theres as very large parking area. Buy your wrist bands and you save the cable lift per person...
Read moreMy 3-year old toddler and I went snowtubing in Ober for the first time and it’s was a very bad experience! For first-timers , I would say never again after seeing this. There are lots of college students working in different spots. The student who is in charge at the bottom of the belt ( the belt you step on to go up the hill where you sit and go downhill snowtubjng) acted careless after we both fell getting on the belt. In fact, he did not stop the belt , his answer was “ this is not part of my job, it only has 1 speed. If you have a complaint feel free to talk to the supervisor.” After speaking to the supervisor , he tells me some of this equipment is super old , and needs to be changed. He said he was sorry and wished he could do something to change the experience. There is NO communication whatsoever in regards to purchasing tickets. The booth at the entrance explained if I buy the wristbands , I could add to my ticket the snowtubing . I paid for the wristbands , and after I paid for them and add the snowtubing ticket to it , I walk with my toddler up the hill to the snowtubing booth where they print your ticket. The college student (again) tells me I haven’t paid for a snowtubing ticket , and if I want to add it , I need to bring my wallet to pay for one. It’s a complete disaster ! I ended up finding out Ober was purchased by someone and is under new management. I hate it this was my experience since I have been coming...
Read moreOber Mountain turned out to be quite the adventure! Despite some mixed reviews I stumbled upon, here's my take. Many opt to park in Gatlinburg and ride the tram up to the ski lodge, but we chose to drive all the way up. The journey involved navigating several winding roads, but upon arrival, the parking lot was nearly empty, given it was the final day of the ski season. Still, parking was $20.
It was the first skiing experience for my wife and our two teenage boys - not something you typically do in Florida!
Once we paid, we geared up, starting with helmets and ski bibs. The staff member assisting us was super helpful, ensuring the helmets fit perfectly.
However, the experience dipped a bit at the ski and boot rental counter. Despite three attendants, after getting our boots, no one checked to see if they fit right or if we needed any help. I ended up spending the next 15 minutes making sure everyone was set, and then they were off to ski school.
The ski instructor, Travis, I think, was fantastic. He spent a good hour with my family, focusing on fun and the fundamentals.
The layout of Ober Mountain really impressed me. There's a dedicated area for kids and families, a large outdoor video screen for events, and even synthetic grass to keep the place tidy and appealing.
It seems like Ober Mountain is a hidden treasure all year round, from winter skiing to summer biking. Definitely worth a visit if you're...
