We had a terrible experience there tonight. We were the ONLY people in the theater and it was freezing cold. We asked the person working there who said he was the manager to turn up the heat twice. He said he did but it was still freezing cold. First he said it was an old building and it would take a long time to heat up. I was so cold that I had a big coat on, a coat over my lap and was drinking a hot drink to try to stay warm. I got a sore throat in there it was so cold. So we finally told the manager that we had to leave because it was too cold to stay. He refused to give us our money back. He then refused to turn up the heat. As I said, first he said that it was an old building and it would take a long time to heat up. Then he changed his story and said if he turned up the heat the OTHER people would be uncomfortable. I reminded this guy that WE were the ONLY people there !!! Then he made the ridiculous comment that if he turned up the heat that the people TOMORROW would be too warm. He just didn't want to turn up the heat because we were the only ones there and didn't care that I was freezing. He was acting like a total jerk and just wanted to give us a hard time. My friend told him that he's been going to that theater for over 20 years and the manager could have cared less. So we didn't get to see the movie, we didn't get a refund and he wouldn't turn up the heat. I will NEVER go there again as long as that manager is there. It's an old cold theater with a disgustingly rude manager who is too cheap to turn on the heat and doesn't care that the customers are extremely ...
Read moreI recently had the misfortune of visiting the most abysmal movie theater I've ever encountered, and it was a nightmarish experience from start to finish. The theater itself was a dilapidated relic, with threadbare seats, filthy floors, and a general atmosphere of neglect. The air conditioning was either broken or non-existent, making the environment uncomfortably stifling.
However, the true horror was the staff, specifically one particularly dreadful worker. From the moment I approached the counter, this individual was unhelpful and disinterested, barely acknowledging my presence. When I finally managed to get my tickets, they were handed to me with a look of disdain, as if my very request was a personal affront.
The real nightmare began when I tried to address a problem with my seat. The worker's attitude was dismissive and outright rude. They shrugged off my concerns and suggested I just "deal with it" rather than offering any assistance or solutions. Their lack of professionalism was staggering, making an already miserable experience even worse.
To cap it all off, the film was repeatedly interrupted by malfunctioning projectors, adding a layer of frustration to an already terrible evening. If you value your sanity and enjoy a pleasant cinema experience, do yourself a favor and avoid this theater...
Read moreI hate to be this guy. I'm usually very easily pleased and I've only walked out on one movie my entire life. Last night I was close to walking out again. My wife and I and some friends went to the Tivoli Theater in Downers Grove to see Lincoln but it was packed by the time we got there. We had been to Tivoli once before to see Argo for $5 and we were blown away. The live organ player before the show and the look and feel of the theater was amazing. Not to mention its only $5. So when we heard it was packed, we decided to go to Glen Ellyn Art Theater.
It was a small little theater with a small screen. The theater was dirty and kind of crummy. The movie started and the sound was faint and thin. It sounded like only the front speakers were on. I went to speak to the manager to let him know and he went to take a look. Nothing ever changed. Even my wife and friends said it sounded bad and it was hard to hear the dialogue. For $7, it is not only blown away by Tivoli in comparison, it was probably my worst movie going experience to date. If you're looking for a beautiful theater compared to the run of the mill, don't go here. We will never go back. Save your time and money and go to...
