We were looking for some stuff and a friend referred us here. Supper excited to get in there and even hear the cashier speak in our native language(Swahili). There was a gentleman who was selling meat, supper kind dude, talked to us nice and answered all of our questions and referred us to the cashier for all of our other questions. Now here is where it gets interesting. The items on the shelf barely have price tags. Some of the items barely have products information to help you figure expiration dates and stuff. In fact, we found some products with mould on the shelf! In their freezer section, they had lots of frozen veggies that were labeled in multiple foreign language, which is a good thing, but calls for customer service to help customers who who are interested and don’t understand what these are, understand. Here is an example- there was a frozen veggie labeled green leaves with a picture, and had other names that were foreign to us. None of this infor helped us figure what this was, and besides green leaves could mean anything. They looked interesting though, so we decided to ask the cashier lady what these would be.. Her response, you should know what they are them by looking at them. I mean if we knew we would be asking. I even told her not everyone has had a privilege of gardening or even learning all veggies out there and that’s why we are asking. Her response again, even if you were raised in the city, you should know. . Not sure what was good with her but every question we asked her was responded so rudely, with a lot of rudeness, defense and disrespect. The situation actually moved from us being excited and kindly wanting to know what products they were selling so we can buy(since these products are labeled in foreign languages ) to her getting so furious and banging her hands on the table. There was another lady at the store, who at first seemed to understand and helped managed the situation, but she too quickly moved from that to telling us we are lucky they were talking to us, otherwise if it was another African store they wouldn’t be talking to us. Unfortunately, that’s the kind of customer service that this place has. Basically, they admitted to only wanting to serve people who know what they are selling. People who understand the four-five foreign languages they have used to label their stuff. If you do not, then they would care less to help you know what they are selling. Terrible customer service. When I say terrible, it’s so bad. Ultimately, they stopped attending us, in the middle of us checking out. Our card was inserted, and she started attending the person behind us. They then sent us away Fam. Never experienced this type of rudeness. I will never be coming back here again.
I also forgot to mention, some of thier products like the Indian ground nuts are 80% more expensive compared to other competing stores. Ultimately, we were able to go to Lee lees international and found most of what we needed with so much ease and for great prices. These guys at lee lees don’t even speak great English but they try to help you understand what the products are and buy. Yet these African ladies at this store who even speak our language and English, straight up sent us away from their store for trying to inquire what they...
Read moreI bought food here to cook and eat. The dried fish here was rotten and had lots of mold inside. The owner of the store who also offers a cashier told us that all sales are final. I came back the following day to return the rotten fish. He said he was not aware that he was selling rotten fish and did not want to give my money back at first. We insisted that we would report this to the food inspection department.
He then refunded our money, and we gave his rotten fish back.
