Bad customer service! I needed a new bass a couple months ago. After long hours of online research, I decided to try out the SUB by music man at the store. I get to the store and found the bass I wanted. Unfortunately, both basses on the floor were not working. At first, I thought I had a bad cable since both basses had similar problems. I requested another cable but the problem continued. At that point, I decided to ask for help. The guy working at guitars treated me like I didn't know what I was doing. After realizing he was wrong, he told me to try out a J or P bass and walked away. Why would I do that? First of all, I already own a few of those so I know exactly how they sound. Second of all, as a customer, you don't go to any store/restaurant and take whatever they want to give you. Anyway, I found this to be very unprofessional/disrespectful. He could of simply checked in the back or called another store so I could try out the bass I wanted. Today, I went to buy a cheap back up guitar for my upcoming shows. I wouldn't consider myself a professional. But with over 15 years of playing music, I know exactly what I want I terms of sound and action on guitar. When testing out a guitar or amp, you have to try it at different levels and tones to see how it's going to sound live. Not 5 minutes after I sat down to try out the guitar, an employee comes and tells me it's too loud. That really bothered me so I got up and left the store. I strongly believe the amp was not loud (about 2 of 10 on the volume). The problem is, like other people mentioned in these reviews, they don't think you are there to buy anything. These people are extremely unhelpful, unprofessional, and quick to judge on appearance. When I get home from work, I take off my business clothes and get into old clothes and sandals to be comfortable. This does not mean I don't have money to buy what I want when I go to GC or Sam Ash. As a matter of fact, over the past few years, I've spent between $15,000 and $20,000 in band equipment at guitar center. I strongly believe it's not just the employees that have a problem here. Employee behavior is strongly influenced by management. That been said, the management team needs to step it up and make immediate changes to this place before they continue losing customers like me. As of today, no more guitar...
Read moreJust had an AMAZING customer service experience. 100% knowing I’m gonna order online. Used 2010 Les Paul junior. (Better rate for financing via PayPal) talked with David, who took the time to personally inspect the used guitar I wanted to buy. Gave me in-depth explanation of any and all things of notice. It was gently used, with typical wear on some surfaces. He said “Hey man, want me to send you pictures of any of the wear I find?” Really?? Above and beyond already. Awesome! I declined, as I figured that meant it was is good enough condition for me. I asked if I can put his name or employee number in at checkout to make sure he get his DUE commission, he said since HE was the one that bought the guitar in, his name was attached and WOULD get the commission. SOOO happy that was the case. He was: Courteous. Personable. Knowledgeable. Had a couple chuckles with some “silly” comments I made. I told him, originally, I had one more GC to call, about a less-gently used model of the same guitar (minor differences), I explained it was considerably cheaper than the one at his store. He asked if I had the POS number… then pulled it up on his end, was surprised by the price, but gave is (only via pictures) opinion, that it had far more wear, but looked solid. We had a couple of chuckles, then he said it looked cool with the wear and it was a really good price. Treated me like I was the ONLY customer… His honesty, and willingness to go the extra 5280, was amazing. I didn’t call the other store. I thanked him for his time. We hung up, and then I ordered from his store. Paid quite a bit more than the other, but the one I bought is the exact model I wanted. (Single bridge humbucker, no toggle, volume and tone pots) but the fact that he gave me as good as, if not BETTER customer service over the phone, than I sometimes get in person (not necessarily at GC) sold me. AND the fact that even though I ordered online, he’d still get the commission… DONE. Don’t care that I paid more. Got the EXACT thing I wanted, and was given time and expertise far beyond what I’d expect from a phone call… I’ve heard the store was getting some not-so-great reviews. 5/5 no...
Read moreSo this review stems from another incident I had with another guitar Center. At first, I thought their service here was wonderful. Our Church had some items stolen from us, and they had replaced everything from GC. I wanted to exchange what they bought for something else so I brought my gear in. They guys helped me out, and they said that it was gonna take a while since it was purchased at a different store. No, problem. I picked out the new gear while I was waiting and paroosed the rest of the store to check out all the new gear. After an hour or two I walked out with my new gear and a check for the balance. Awesome. It went so well that the church gave me other stuff that was still in the boxes we received them in to go return for them since some people had already donated new gear. Ok. I was expecting the same great service as yesterday. WRONG. There's this manager named Tracy who was probably the worst salesman ever. I bring him the stuff that was delivered to us by Guitar Center and he get all up in my case about why the serial numbers don't match. I explain to him that the items were shipped to us, so why did GC ship us the wrong stuff. Then he asks for a receipt. I give him the paperwork that I was given and he tells me that it's not a receipt. Well it worked yesterday... and apparently Guitar Center doesn't give out real receipts with their purchases anymore. I explain to him that it's all that I was given and he tells me that it's hard for him to believe. I was going to purchase different gear, but not with that kind of attitude. I took the money and walked. Funny thing, when I mentioned that I had trouble with a rude manager, everyone else working there instantly knew whom I was talking about. How do you let some continue to work there that's like that? I'm not going to deal with Guitar Center ever again. I'd rather support local music stores or places online then deal with the jerks. Of course you could always just check to see if Tracy was there or not, and decide if you...
