A couple of weeks ago, my elderly aunt and I wanted to see if the Sleep Number bed would be a good fit for her because she has major back issues. During our visit, the sales person (I can't remember his name unfortunately), kept insisting that we purchase the bed that he had shown us. It was a twin XL that would cost us more than $4,000. This was AFTER we already said that we didn't think it was for her and that MAYBE we'd come back. He was so pushy that he wouldn't let us leave the store. He said that if we give him the credit card he would hold the bed and we would still receive the special discount offered that week if we decided that we wanted to purchase the bed. I told him specifically to NOT process the order until I got back to him. He told us that we could come back on Monday, (3 days later) and tell him what our decision was. Well, that Sunday (2 days later), my aunt decided early and stated that she did not want the bed and asked me to cancel the order. So I called the store on Sunday. (The sales guy who worked with us wasn't there.) I told the sales guy who answered the phone that we didn't want the bed and that we wanted to cancel the order. He said it couldn't be cancelled from the store anymore and that if we wanted to cancel it, we would have to call customer service because it has already been processed. Thankfully, I was able to call C.S. on Monday (C.S. was closed on Sunday) and I told them to cancel the order because it had already been charged to my aunts credit card.
When we initially worked with the original sales guy, he seemed nice and helpful, but when we heard that he processed the order without our approval. . . WHAT A SNEAK! My suggestion - If you go to this store, you'd better be sure that you want a sleep number bed or else you're going to pay an arm and a leg for something you'll be coerced in to buying. I know that if my aunt had gone alone, they would have absolutely played her. I don't know how the other Sleep Number stores are, but I would avoid this place unless you know FOR SURE that a sleep number is what you want.
I almost forgot to mention that after we cancelled the order, the sales person who originally helped us called my aunt a couple of times the next two days asking her if she would change her mind about purchasing the bed. I had to tell my aunt to stop...
Read moreIn my opinion, we got pushed into a bed at this sleep number store. The salesperson, Paul, was an aggressive charmer. He talked us from a queen to a king and tried talking us into two more queens for our kids in addition to the bed we had gone to look at. During our second visit, we took our teenage daughter, and in front of her he mentioned we might be purchasing a bed for her. Im not sure if he thought putting us on the spot like that would make us feel obligated to purchase. Once we were talked into our bed we were told that there was a 100 day trial period and everything could be returned if you weren't completely satisfied. Not true, adjustable bases are not refundable. In fact, the base is what we were unhappy with, the mattress itself is fine. As if that weren't bad enough customer service when I called to make the return the rep said ok to all of my items, spent 15-20 minutes trying to talk me into keeping the bed, told me about a restocking fee which I agreed to, and finally told me when she couldn't convince me...oh, and the adjustable base is non-returnable. Well if she had just started with that at the beginning of the conversation she would've saved me 20 minutes of my time. What the heck am I supposed to do with a base and no mattress?!? I wouldve just said ok nevermind. These people don't let you casually peruse and inform and they are not honest. Go...
