Lew Flynn's Red Ray Lanes — Attraction in Grand Forks

Last night was my 2nd time at Red Rays, but unfortunately the experience wasn’t same as the 1st time. We went in a group of 7 had 7 coupons from UND. Once we reached the counter the blonde lady told us we can use lane 7&8. We tried to give her the tickets also told we have 7 tickets if we want 1 game do we need all of them or I ticket. She said no each ticket for 1game per person, and told she will take the tickets after the game. Each lane has a maximum of 6 players capacity, one of us went to the lady and asked if 7 people can play she said 7 & 8 is open for us. So we started playing with 6 names in each board. After the game when we went to return the shoes and tickets she told as we played for 12 person we need to pay for extra 5 players. When I said we were only 7 people. She replied then you should have put 3 and 4 names not 6 and 6. We paid for the extra 5 (invisible) players somewhere around $28 and few cents.

From the start this lady was grumpy, also did not explain us how this works. We felt like she purposely kept the matter hidden to charge us. In my last 2 years in Grand Forks I experienced amazing people who would explain everything nicely before hand. This kind of behavior was very unfortunate.

Hi- sorry I am new to reviewing so I don’t know how to respond to the owner at all so I am just editing my review. It didn’t save my response so let me just rewrite it and give some explanation here. The reason I gave 1 star was because the bar was closed and as someone in my party stated “you can’t go bowling without beer” and so we ended up not bowling there at all. Now I don’t know if there’s some law or something that I don’t know because we come from out of town, but we’ve been struggling the entire day with finding places open and places that serve alcohol (that allow another person under 21). Unfortunately it was also his birthday so the mood has been tanked the entire day. As for the golf club, it was completely closed today, and after some contact we found that we needed to book a time or that they were on a different schedule, which was something not stated in the Google page or on the websites where we were looking for places to go. I understand that giving low reviews to local places can hurt their business- I come from a smaller city too, but having valid reasons to give those reviews shouldn’t be punished. This place is terrible and corrupt. Don't do leagues here. It is not a family friendly environment. There was a league playing poker with pornography cards (full on nudity) with their bowling team in front of children. I had discussed this with other leagues when I saw this issue. They said they have complained about this particular woman and nothing has been done about it. No one was comfortable with this there but the woman was best friends with the night manager/bartender so it was just looked over. The women is apparently the league secretary. She did not do her job - one of her team mates did. She was drunk walking all over the bowling alley gossiping and swearing dropping many F words. Again inappropriate for a family environment. I called the manger and all he said was that he would talk to her about it. That was very terrible customer service.
