Worst experience with no resolve. We originally received a quote from Cameo Countertops to install a countertop on our 10'x5' island. Their quote came back higher than any of their competitors. While shopping around, we ended up checking our local Home Depot and they actually had a sale running on the stone (quartzite) that we wanted. We have purchased countertops (granite and quartz) through Home Depot twice in the past 5 years and have had good experiences. We got a call from the installer that happens to be Cameo Countertops a few days later and set up our measurement for about 2 weeks later. I came down with the flu and had to reschedule my first appointment to the following week. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away that week and the funeral was scheduled for the same time as the counterop measurement. I called Cameo to see if we could move times and they said that they were too busy and would still plan on being to my house between 11-1. Since we are living without a kitchen, we did not want to put our project out anymore. I had my wife stay home and wait for them, thinking she would just be somewhat late to the funeral. Cameo did not show up to our house until 12:55 and then they were there until almost 1:30. My wife missed the entire funeral waiting for them and they didn't even have the decency to call to say they were behind. Then, the following week after the measurement, we get a call from Home Depot saying that Cameo wants to charge us an extra 400$ because the stone is large and they need more people to bring it in. We had already received our quote from Cameo, which had a large slab fee of $150. After arguing with Home Depot, and explaining our bad experience with Cameo already, they decided that they would split the fee with us and we each agreed to pay half of that. The next day, we go into Home Depot to pay our extra $200 install fee, mind you we have been without a kitchen for 3 weeks already at this point waiting for countertops, and Home Depot informs us that Cameo no longer wants to do the job because the slab is too big for them to handle that Home Depot doesn't work with any other installers. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! The best Home Depot would do is return the $3400 we already paid them for the job and offered us a $100 gift card. The $100 gift card meant nothing after being without a kitchen for 3 weeks already and my wife missing my grandmothers funeral. After this experience, I will NEVER be purchasing any work from Home Depot. After talking with a lot of local countertop installers, our island countertop isn't anything out of the norm. We called another we local installer and sure enough they were happy to take the job, cheaper and are excited to install and see the end result. If I could give a negative star...
Read moreDefinitely buying my appliances elsewhere. Recently purchased two washers from this local Home Depot and had a horrible experience. I purchased the items in store with a sales associate. The prices of both pieces were marked up a total of about $90 from the online and showroom prices. It took about 1 hour to make this purchase after having to explain the price discrepancy multiple times. Then when the items were delivered this past Saturday, they were installed incorrectly - the hot and cold water hoses were reversed. All rinses were in "cold" (aka hot water) and the items were steaming when we took them out. We called both the delivery company and HD early in the afternoon but were told nothing could be done until the following Monday. We were limited with what we could wash that weekend, with a toddler in the house. So we waited around all Monday morning and the delivery company never showed up. WE had to call the delivery company (RAS delivery services) to find out they just couldn't come that day...after waiting 6 hours!! They finally came out on Tuesday and the delivery team even expressing their surprise that this had happened - as this is something that is SUPPOSED TO BE checked before the delivery team leaves. When asking how HD can compensate us for all our troubles, they offered us a refund on the washer hoses ($30 off a $1300+ purchase) because that is all the delivery company would give HD for this inconvenience. This was the best they could do. Home Depot obviously doesn't care too much about their customer service - when speaking to one of the managers he said they have had a lot of issues with this delivery company --- so why do you continue to use them?? Home Depot obviously doesn't care about our business either. Thanks for 2% off my purchase for essentially being without a washer for 3 days and having to take a day off for no one to show to fix the problem. I recommend going with another company for your appliances. I am willing to drive further to go to Lowes or to spend a little...
Read moreHome Depot lost me as a customer today. I have spent a great deal of money at HD throughout the years, including counter tops, appliances, tile, paint, etc. here and in Indianapolis. We ordered carpet from the GH store a few weeks ago. Was supposed to be a 10 day install. That went out the window, but rest assured, they gave me a $50 gift card which I have yet to see.
On the day of the install, the installers arrived at 3:00. When they started to do the install there was an issue with how the carpet was manufactured and it would not seam properly. The installer, who said he had 20 years experience showed the issue to me and said it was a problem. After over an hour on the phone, the installer home office said they needed to continue. When they showed me the seam after, I rejected it. The on-site installer told me that they would reorder the carpet and set a new install date and that I would hear from them. They left the house half ripped up with an incomplete install.
I never received a call, so I went to the store, where I got a totally different story from HD and then the install company. They said the carpet was fine and that it will install fine and that they were rescheduling the install for the following week. The installer home office claimed I was the one causing the problem and that the on-site installer never told me they were going to order new carpet. HD backed the installer and said if I wanted the carpet returned it was a 15% restocking fee. So I'm being called a liar and now I am basically stuck with this carpet and them finishing an install, hoping it will not be an issue.
I'm not even going to go into the story about the measure and how that went. Suffice it to say, HD lost a great customer today. I hope this review saves someone else from the...
