I love going to the studio to paint and have for years. I have visited several different locations around DFW. This was my first time doing virtual painting at home with PWAT Grapevine. Once I signed up, the studio owner contacted me to see what day I would like to pick up my kit. Options are M-F between 4-6pm. Once that was decided I drove to the studio, texted that I was outside and Colleen brought my kit and placed it in the trunk of my car. Everything was packaged perfectly. Canvas, instruction sheet with how to log into zoom, a full page color photo of the painting, paints in containers with lids, two brushes, paper towel, paper plate, paper table cover and a cup for water. In addition, there is a coupon for $5 to use on your next painting purchase only valid at Twist Grapevine. I picked up my kit on Monday evening and painted on a Sunday. I was worried about the paint drying, but that was not the case. I left the kit flat, as instructed, until the day I needed it. Easel is not included in the kit. I was going to use a large box to lean my canvas on, but then decide do pick up an easel at a local craft store (curbside) and now I have it for future use. I was able to log into zoom 30 minutes prior to class starting. Molly, the instructor, was wonderful. I could hear and see her perfectly. I was using my Fire tablet for the zoom meeting. The paper table cover was large enough to cover my dining room table and I had plenty of paint. I muted my microphone and turned camera off to minimize noise and video interruptions. If I had a question I just turned on my microphone and asked. I enjoyed those two hours painting at home just like I would have if I was there, except, I didn't have to hurry to finish up and I didn't have to leave. I continued to add those finishing touches to my painting, continued with my wine and food. Thank you so much for a wonderful at home experience. I will continue to support as much as I can. I have included photos of the kit, set up at my table at home and my...
Read moreI’ve taken two classes at this Grapevine location. The first one was about a week ago, and the second was yesterday. I had a great experience the first time and the instructor was awesome! I thought the painting turned out good and the trivia was a blast also, so I was really excited about doing ACOTAR trivia and painting at my second class. My mom was in town visiting from Alaska, and I read the email about the class a few days prior to see if I could bring her with me just to watch since I didn’t want to leave her alone. I figured I could always call and cancel and reschedule for another time if it wasn’t allowed. I guess I misread the email, which is my mistake, because when I read it I saw, “Be sure to invite your family and friends, the more the merrier!” so I thought I was good to go. When I came in, I had my mom with me and mentioned she would just be sitting with me. The lady at the counter wasn’t someone I had met at the prior event, and she came off a little rude explaining the policy. She said she wasn’t going to make a big deal about it which I appreciated at first as it was truly an accident on my part as I had read the email and had been attempting to follow the rules, but than she proceeded to talk so loudly about the policy for an extended amount of time that it was embarrassing and uncomfortable for both me and my mom. My friends who were sitting a good distance away at the table also heard everything she said and commented that it seemed unnecessary given the situation. In the future, I think it could be communicated better and more discreetly and that would have made the experience a lot better. I didn’t break the policy on purpose, and there were still plenty of bar stools available despite having a packed class. We also drove an hour to come to that location for this class, two hours round trip, so it was an overall disappointment even though I left with a...
Read moreThis place is awesome! I spoke with Ms. Colleen (not sure if I spelled her name correctly) but I called multiple times with different questions and she was very friendly and helped answer every question. I booked a reservation for me and my family to celebrate my mom’s birthday and we all had a blast. They encourage you to make your painting your own. Use the colors you want, add in your own style, and most importantly have fun while doing it. Our session was about 2 hours but that’s because the painting had multiple layers to it. This is a fantastic place for people who are looking for a date night, fun activity, birthday party, or just something to do. The instructor was funny and did a great job with answering questions so shout out to Brook! Also Jazmine was incredibly helpful in answering our huge group’s questions about how to do different things or what to do if ya messed up on something. They’re very knowledgeable and make it a great time. Even if you have absolutely no clue what you’re doing (which was the case with 90% of our group) your painting will turn out great and you’re going to have a good time. 10/10 would recommend and will be returning again. This place should be at the top of your list if you are trying to find something to do and it’s pretty affordable too! Thank you to the staff for being incredibly kind and helpful+ making it a blast! My mom really enjoyed it and so did everyone else...
