There were two male staff behind the bar. One a larger mature gentleman and a younger guy. Both not serving any customers but doing the necessary things of washing glassware. And there was at least one guy front of house tending to vacated tables bringing glasses back to the bar.
But. Here’s the but. We waited at the bar for what felt like forever. In reality, maybe 5 minutes, but with zero acknowledgement from anyone. Those washing glasses continued washing glasses. The guy out front continued doing his thing.
So I reached out to say we’re waiting and seated at the bar. The large guy said, “We’ll be right with you” and from a distance I saw he did say something to the younger guy, but whatever they were doing was more important than me and my two friends. After waiting another minute and continuing to be otherwise ignored, we left.
Seriously, if you’ve got someone wanting to spend money, why would you ignore them. Beyond that, why would you not drop everything that was not a service task to take care of them.
We went to Langdon’s Winery a few doors up the street. There a single lady serving behind the bar today (12/3 at 6:15pm) and she quickly acknowledged us on arrival even though she was busy serving. Then she asked what we’d like or if we needed more time. Multitasking professionally to do the right things.
The place was busy but we still felt they were bothered enough to take care of us. When we left she wished us happy holidays.
It’s a dichotomy in service retail: the best service experiences often come from great people busy doing what they do. Compare that to the dreadfully poor service a few doors away on the same street, even after going and asking to be served!
Bottom line: I cannot say anything good about the experience in Sloan & Williams Winery. Langdon Winery is highly recommended by us for their friendly efficient service and reasonable prices. The merlot we enjoyed was rather...

Let me start by saying: I am not a wine person. And neither were the friends I went with—one of them chugged her first glass like it was a frat party, so take our wine opinions with a grain of salt (or maybe a cube of cheese from the charcuterie board).
There were three of us, and we each ordered a different wine flight—Red, European, and Sweet—so we could pretend we were classy and cultured while secretly judging by “which one smells least like a Sharpie.” We paired it all with their charcuterie board, which was cute and totally snack-worthy.
The service? Meh. A little lackluster. Not rude, just... uninterested. But honestly, the overall vibe carried the night. We laughed until we cried, made wild tasting notes (“this one tastes like church wine if church wine had ambition”), and felt our inner winos blossom.
Then came the frozen wine flight (highly recommend for non-wine people) and a Margherita flatbread that hit the perfect post-flight snack craving.
TL;DR: Not wine snobs? No problem. Come for the wine flights, stay for the laughs, and don’t skip the frozen flight or the flatbread. Just bring your own hype crew—because the service might not match your energy, but the...
Read moreThe atmosphere and layout is great, but the service was subpar. Despite having 4-5 bartenders behind the bar (plus the host, manager and others), service was very slow. We sat at the bar. After ordering our first drink (we did cocktails instead of Wine), I watched as the bartender took more than 15 minutes to make two drinks (bloody mary and cosmo). Neither was good, so lesson learned that only order the wine here. So, after my glass sat empty for over 20 minutes, asked two different bartenders if I could please get a glass of wine. Finally got wine, and then after glass sat empty again for another 20+ minutes, had to ask 3 different bar staff to get our check which took another 10 minutes or so before someone would finally get our check. (and no, they weren't waiting on other people at the time. it seems they have to check with your original bartender before cashing you out???). I can't say they were short staffed, as they seemed to have more than I see at other equally sized places. Perhaps an anomaly given all the positive reviews here, but disappointing none-the-less as we weren't spending well over an hour to grab a few...
