I've been to museums in Europe and paid exorbitant admission fees. This place is FREE and beats them all hands down. Why? It is a living museum, with rooms that bring history to life. It is more than evident the people of this town are proud of its heritage and have collected the best artifacts from townspeople with thoughtful descriptions on how the items were actually used. I loved the Depression Era room, with sewing and kitchen models. I loved the small business walk with shoppes set up as in days of old. My husband loved the exhibit honoring veterans. Simply put, it is a must-see if you are passing through East TN and prefer true history and educational sites, rather than bumper to bumper traffic and canned entertainment.
