Walking into Monterrey Mexican Restaurant feels like stepping into a fiesta! The vibrant decor, upbeat music, and friendly chatter create a warm, inviting atmosphere from the moment you arrive. My recent visit was a true delight for all the senses, and I'm already planning my next trip back. First, let's talk about the food. I ordered the chicken enchiladas verdes, and they were, without a doubt, the best I've had in years. The corn tortillas were soft and fresh, the chicken was tender and juicy, and the tangy green tomatillo sauce was simply perfectâit had just the right amount of spice to give it a kick without being overwhelming. The accompanying rice and refried beans were also fantastic, clearly made with care. My friend raved about the carne asada, saying the steak was cooked to perfection and incredibly flavorful. The margarita I had was also expertly mixed, a refreshing complement to the meal. What truly sets Monterrey apart, however, is the service. Our server was incredibly attentive, quick to offer recommendations, and made sure our drinks were always full. They were genuinely friendly and seemed to love their job, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Itâs clear that this restaurant is a passion project, and it shows in every detail, from the amazing food to the fantastic hospitality. If you're looking for an authentic, delicious, and fun Mexican dining experience, Monterrey is the place to be. You won't be...
Read moreSalsa slightly spicy but good. Chips were fresh. Does not allow you to order a variety of single tacos to try. I wanted carnitas and carne asada. I was told I could only order one meat and have 3 of that meat. There were no suggestions offered to accommodate ordering what I wanted. I reviewed the menu and saw I could order a kid's taco with rice and beans so I decided to order two with each type of meat I wanted. The waiter looked at me and smiled and tried to tell me I couldn't order it. I was surprised. As someone who has worked in customer service I was astounded that they were not willing to try. The waiter then said he would ask the kitchen after I told him I wanted a second kids taco. The fact this was such a hassle to get two tacos and during the lunchtime hour is just surprising. I ended up getting my kids taco with carne asada and a separate carnitas taco. The Refried beans were ok, kind of bland. The rice was good, it had some chicken mixed in. I probably wouldn't go back to this place due to lack of effort or service...
Read moreMy husband and I are still in shock that this occurred. We went to have a meal at Montery Mexican Restaurant on Summer Street. When it was time to order, I ordered a very simple, and plain, burrito with beans, rice, cheese and sour cream only. The waiter denied my request, telling me that it was against the rules. He then decided to get he manager, I advised him that I simply needed a burrito, not a manager. Manager still arrived, who also told me it was againt the rules to have the burrito I wanted. Stated that I HAD to have some type of meat on the burrito, it was not a choice, and that I could not have sour cream on the burrito it HAD to be on the side. Hubby and I gave up and left, in shock honestly, and found another restaurant that had no problem making me my very bland burrito exactly as I had requested. We highly suspect that Monterey Mexican Restaurant is selling pre packaged items, which would explain why they denied our order. We ended up at Martinez Mexican Restaurant on Bohannon Drive. The food at Martinez' place was amazing, authentic, well priced and no issues with my burrito request. We highly suggest going to Martinez' instead of Monterey's.
