Andrew Johnson, was the 17th President of the United States. Johnson became president after Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. The national park includes two of Johnson's homes, his tailor shop, and his grave site within the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery. The old homestead across the street covers early life in Greensville. The home where they moved in 1851 and returned to after his presidency remained in the family for 3 generations and contains mostly family owned furnishings so you get a good sense of family life in this period.
