First time going in and I wasn’t sure what to expect but they met and exceeded all my expectations! It’s in downtown Greeneville so it’s a very old building w/great character. When you first walk in it’s very homey and a little bit of seating however after you order you can go through a side door that is open and spacious and nothing but seating with windows galore! If you get you coffee there and not to go you will most likely get your hot beverages served in a branded ceramic coffee mug with a decoration w/the froth on top like I have pictured. It’s the little touches that I love! If you get an iced coffee you will most likely get it served in a mason jar glass definitely that southern feeling (I don’t have a picture of it, that was my second trip in). They have their menu clearly displayed w/lots of options not just their coffees either but also their food options and branded merchandise. I had one of their scones and it was delicious! It’s always clean & the staff is always super kind. I really thought on my first trip in it was going to be over priced but it’s really priced super fairly especially considering the quality. I highly recommend this place, it’s worth dealing with the horrible construction and limited parking downtown currently! You can always park somewhere else and just take a stroll over there, that’s what we have done on most trips in. We have been back now several times and will continue to go in as it’s my coffee destination in Greeneville! Do yourself a favor and...
Read moreI'm super unhappy to have to post a lower-star review on Catalyst, because I think it was one of the best little cafes in town - they still have probably the best coffee. Unfortunately, all of the delicious food options that everyone has spoken so highly of in previous reviews have been removed from the menu. The delicious breakfast sandwiches, the wraps, the pizzas... all of the delicious food is gone. All that's left is cheap packaged oatmeal and a couple bagels. I've heard a few reasons why, but it's crippled the place as a breakfast option!
The staff is awesomely friendly, although in the last month it seems like the crew on duty has been approximately halved - possibly the reason for the loss of the food? But the lines have become extremely long. Often the cashier will be away from the desk for five or more minutes while the line backs up literally out of the door trying to fill coffee orders.
PLEASE, guys, please get good again! You have been our favourite place in town since...
Read moreTwo of us visited the Catalyst during our stay at the General Morgan Inn and we went down around 7:20 Saturday morning, which they opened at 7 am. We weren't greeted and I had to say good morning to the barista first. This was our first visit so we spent a minute looking at the menu and she didn't speak to us at all - just stood there at the register waiting on us to order. I ordered an egg and cheese croissant - not on the menu but I don't eat ham - but I received a ham and Swiss cheese croissant. I didn't want to have to speak to her again so I just took the ham off. She didn't say anything to us when she handed us the food or as we were walking out and there was only one other customer there. Either she was having a bad morning or they're just not very friendly there. My bf went down later for two pizzas ($6 each) to bring back up and they tasted like the Totino pizzas you get in the freezer section that are like $1 - $2. I liked the atmosphere and thought it was well placed in the...
