I visited this store looking for a mens wedding band. I had a specific type of band in mind that wholesales in the region of $300. The clerk was busy and another person was working on something to the side nobody addressed us for a couple of minutes while we waited. When the clerk finally came to us, she did an excellent job of finding the ring that we had described to her that we had found we liked online. She did not show us similar rings and the selection at the store was at best average compared to the other stores we had looked at. She showed us the price marked up about 100% when I initiated a discussion on price, we were immediately shut down. While their markup is not as extreme as other stores, the service and selection were poor. Overall 3 stars but could easily drop to two. (I ultimately bought the ring online for $250 cheaper than they offered it to me for). While I desire to support brick and mortar a 100% markup and no wiggle room is a bit much. I took my platinum wedding band to Graders to be resized. The staff seemed friendly and knowledgeable and I expected that my ring would be returned in great condition.

Unfortunately, my ring was improperly resized, decreasing the thickness beyond its tolerance. Even more disconcerting, the matte finish was removed without my permission. They forgot to engrave the ring even though they suggested the engraving. None of these errors were noticed by the staff who called me to pick up the ring. Obviously, the ring was not inspected before I was notified. The staff was apologetic but also defensive.

I have been buying from Grader Jewelers since 1979 and there is no other jeweler that I would consider despite traveling 2.5 hours to get there. You can trust the owners as well as the employees for their honesty and integrity as well as the quality of the store merchandise. Advice on purchases and on work/repairs is thorough and based on years of knowledge handed down over the generations. We could have let our sons-in-law get their engagement and wedding rings from any jeweler but when they asked our advice, we took them to Grader Jewelers.
