Growing up in Guilford, it has been amazing to see how much Bishop's has progressed over the decades. Their business model has evolved with the times, and they offer many different options at their farm market. I stopped by here with my mother, so she could see what the market is like since she moved out of Guilford a few years back. We were impressed with their selections and ability to also purchase food to go. Of course, all of their selections come at a Guilford price. If you are a shoreline person, you know that means pricy. For working class people in Guilford (yes, they are some still remaining!), Bishop's is not an affordable option to shop at. I wish that they could price their products more reasonably. A quart of strawberries cost a whopping $9.99 when I visited this week. For someone who has a grocery budget, that just is not realistic to buy when you can get a quart at a supermarket for 2.99 this time of year. While we did not purchase any groceries, we did stop by the creamery. The ice cream options were vast. The taste was average. We purchased 3 kiddie sized cups for 11.24. Their ice cream is by no means bad. I just would suggest trying out Ashley's in town before you rush to Bishop's.

When I want to buy the finest foods I shop at Bishop's. They're very innovative, bringing to market all the latest trends in foods as well as all of the basic staples. They some how seem to know exactly what people want. I just tried the local beef. Farm raised, no medicines, all natural feed. There's even a sign stating what the animals eat. I made a delicious chili with it. I also bought thin-skinned purple potatoes. Who knew they came with thinner skins, usually the skin is heavy and thick. They're delicious. Bishop's has something for the entire family. Ice cream parlor, pumpkin patches, pick your own berries and fruit, Halloween fun, home made pies and baked goods, wine tasting lectures, and more. The market is really an asset to Guilford and a real gem.

We enjoy visiting different orchards. Bishops has always been an original favorite from when my 21 yr old was born. It's been awhile since we've been here and a bit has changed. The patch is set up beautifully. You get to use a cart to pick a pre-picked pumpkin and they have many sizes and varieties. Luckily we went on Friday evening, there wasn't too many people and it's getting close to halloween 🎃 but there were still plenty to pick from. There is also a small enclosure with llamas (how cool is that?!), a few goats and chickens and a little ride for small children. There was no hay maze this yr. And we got some apple cider donuts and some cider yummy 😋.

19SEPT.2024 My first time here and this is a well maintained place. So many great prepared dishes, quick, healthy eats, wines, cheese, baked chips, dips, soups, etc. Wonderful selection of local wines, fresh, local produce, variety of nuts, dried fruits, deli meats, poultry, beef, fruit trays, jams, jellies, vegetables, and pot pies. A quaint little garden mart and homemade ice cream shop (on the outer left side of the Far Market)with a nice selection of flavors to choose from. So many great foods, veggies, and meals to choose from. All the employees are so polite and helpful. Great day to shop and look around.
