If I could give The Village Chocolatier more than five stars, I would! Owner Anna Smith went above and beyond to make sure my daughter, who is stationed at the US Navy Submarine Base in Groton, Connecticut, received the sweetest basket of delicious Easter treats. Since they are unable to mail to PO Boxes, Anna personally offered to hand-deliver the basket to the base herself — talk about exceptional service! When she arrived at the gate, she was informed that deliveries couldn’t be made directly to my daughter. But Anna didn’t give up. Instead, she immediately called me and offered to take the basket to the Post Office and overnight it so my daughter would still receive her treats in time for Easter. I was so touched by Anna’s determination and her genuine desire to bring a little joy to my Sailor. It truly warms my heart to know there are still people out there who spread kindness like wildflowers. Anna’s compassion, dedication, and customer care are simply unmatched. Please support this amazing small business! Not only are their chocolates and house-made treats absolutely out of this world, but their commitment to making their customers feel special is something you don’t find every day. I highly, highly recommend The Village Chocolatier — you won’t just find the best chocolate, you’ll find the best people, too. Thank you Anna Smith for bringing my homesick Sailor a little Easter joy and a smile to her face.

I found this place while looking for something to do while my husband was in surgery, and decided chocolate would be the perfect get well gift. When I walked inside there were two other customers in there, which I felt was a good sign considering how small the shop is. The woman who helped me was incredibly patient while I figured out what to put in my 1lb. box of chocolates, and even offered some advice for deciding. I got myself some coconut forward chocolates, because coconut is my favorite, and tried them on my way back to my husband. They were so good! I immediately regretted not getting more for myself. When my husband was feeling up to it, he tried their version of a peanut butter cup and he said it was delicious. He said the chocolate covered oreos were amazing, also. He is slowly working his way through the box, and hasn't had a complaint yet. Definitely worth a stop in!

While in the area, we visited The Village Chocolatier to stock up on some chocolate. Her shop is absolutely adorable and already had festive treats out for St. Patrick's Day! We picked up a box of assorted truffles, white chocolate raspberry fudge, chocolate walnut fudge, and a variety of chocolates, all of which have been amazing so far! I was also very impressed to see that they had marzipan - I haven’t noticed it too much around here. I really appreciated the time that the owner took to make our box look pretty - it made us feel special! We will definitely visit again when we're in the area looking for chocolate!
