Char & Lemon — Restaurant in Guilford

I will give this place one more chance because they are new but wow I was not impressed at all. Bartenders took so long to take our order that my friend was like I’m out of here. I didn’t blame her. Maybe 8 ppl at the bar and no one came back to take an order till I had to say to the bartender “hey are you still serving?” I kid you not. Met a friend and his girlfriend there and they were like we ordered two appetizers before you got here and still hadn’t got their food yet. At that point I wasn’t going to order anything. We both looked at each other and were like I bet they don’t even have it in the computer. They didn’t! He had to come back and ask what they had. I did t even hear them say sorry or anything. Hopefully they did but I didn’t hear it or see it. The atmosphere isn’t great either. So bright and so much white it reminded me of a cafeteria. The fried artichokes were fine and meatballs looked good sauce was ok. Food gets the highest rating from me because I didn’t really eat. I could go on about the service and what I saw...

First time visiting, Char & Lemon last evening. Although it was difficult to get an evening reservation, we were happy with a 5:15 PM as it did get very crowded after that. We were seated in the bar and although kind of loud, we had no problem hearing each other, and it was a fun lively atmosphere. The service was excellent, we never felt rushed and the food arrived in good time. All of our meals were excellent, top-notch. We had a pizza for an app which was light and tasty and the perfect size to share. The chicken Milanese was the best I’ve had. The overall dining experience was very good. Our server was excellent. He noticed that my husband wasn’t drinking the cocktail he’d ordered as it was just too smoky. He offered to take it away and replace it with a different drink and didn’t charge us for the smoky one. The manager was walking around and conversing with guests at various tables. He came to us to ensure we were having a good experience. What a lovely gentleman. We had a couple of questions and comments which he handled with ease and courtesy. We complimented our server and he agreed that he was an excellent member of the team. Both my husband and I will definitely dine there again in the next week or two to try...
