Nothing wrong with the park, just the people in the park. There are 5 or 6 elders who think they own the park, bring their small dogs in large dog area. Their small dogs nip at your large dogs. They even have the nerve to mention slobber if it transfers to their animals, all while nipping at your dogs legs, and jumping all over them. Hello, YOU ARE IN A DOG PARK! These people sat in groups and desire to decide who comes, and who goes. If you see people with tan/off white, small poodles in large dog gate, come back later. Your animal will not be able to play in peace and may even be harmed by these ugly mannered people. One even swatted at my dog for walking past them as they were seated in the middle seats talking. Their excuse was my large dog (Great Pyrenees)was walking to close to their little dog(poodle), (all while their little dog was in the large dog gated area) and they didn't want him around her, so they just shewed him away. I saw them hit my dog on the head in a swatting motion. I respect my elders, but the rules of the park must be followed inorder for all animals to enjoy their trip. That means NO SMALL DOGS in LARGE DOG AREA! Their demeanor was repulsive. Out of all 6, only one had a dog that qualified to be in large dog area (25lbs and up). I see someone else on here had the same experience with the same group of individuals. People, please be courteous and follow park rules. It belongs to the people, not just those down the road who meet daily for socializing. Yes, they do need to add seating in the small dog area. I feel as if that is why that group has taken over the large dog area. To socialize themselves, not the animals. Another thing, elderly or not, do not put your hands on another animal, unless that animal has harmed you, your animal, or done something where it needs to be leashed. Thank God I hold my elders to high respect, or this visit would not have been...
Read moreRecently my daughter came to visit me from out of state. She brought her dogs with her on her visit and ask me if there was a place that would she could take her dogs to walk I'll just get some exercise. I suggested the Gulf Shores dog park I've passed it several times on my way home from work but never stop because I do not have a dog I am a cat person. So I took my daughter to the dog park it was very pleasant come on very clean, and there were a lot of other dogs there for her dogs to get to know. It was a very friendly atmosphere with lots of visitors from different places. The park provided you with plastic doggy bags to clean up after your dog a place for them to get water and a nice sized area for them to exercise. If I had a dog I'll be there everyday, maybe we should get a cat park. I would most definitely recommend this place for the visitor, or for the resident that lives here and just doesn't know about it. I had nothing but a great experience there thank you...
Read moreI wish I would have read the reviews before going , I have seen multiple reviews about a specific chow that goes here and I was unfortunately there when it arrived . My dog has anxiety and was just coming out of his shell letting the other pups come close to him … we both made the mistake of letting the chow get close , he attacked my poor puppy and the owner did nothing but laugh so at that point I just wanted to take him and leave , so I sat for a little bit my dog wouldn’t leave my lap so I went to get his toys to leave , and the chow attacked my pup AGAIN , and the owner said/did NOTHING . Will be going back for the other local pups we met but leaving as soon as that dog comes back . Do not show up with a aggressive dog and not take at least the slightest...
