My father had been hospitalized or in rehab for over a week during his snow bird vacation. The rehab center allowed us to take him out for a couple hours. We decided to treat him to beignets at Cafe Beignet. When we arrived at approximately 11:30 a man came rushing out and told us not to get the wheelchair out of the van because he was closing up soon. My dad was already halfway out of the van so he went ahead and went in. This took a lot of effort for him. I parked the van and came in. We then ordered our food. The woman taking our order was very sweet. Once we got our food my dad needed to sit down because he was tired. we asked the young girl if it would be okay for us to stay. She seemed very uncomfortable and said the chef was trying to close up. At that point he came out and said "Thanks everybody." as if we needed to leave. The other table that was in there stood up and prepared to leave. So we grabbed our stuff and left.
To make matters worse, I called to talk to the owner the following day. A man answered the phone and told me that the owner doesn't hang out there. I asked if he was the chef. He said he was. I then shared my disappointment with how he treated us. He argued with me and said that we were there at 11:45. Yet my receipt says we had checked out by 11:42. When I disagreed with him he told me he didn't have time for this and hung up on me.
I would love to talk to the owner about this! I would like a refund! We paid $33 to be treated very...
Read moreI've gone in several times and had the same experience each time. This will definitely be my last time going in there. The waitress serving us only brought our beignets and cups of water to us. Nothing else. We had an order (3 beignets) of plain beignets at $3.95 and an order of lemon pudding filled beignets at $4.95 according to the dry erase board they have on a wall as the menu. We got ready to pay and the waitress charged us $12. I paid and told her to keep the change, thinking that tip must have been included in that considering how little she did. The witch then had the nerve to ask if something was wrong with my service and pointed to the tip jar. I was absolutely speechless at how rude she was. I left her another dollar and left. I know that the prices on the board are tax inclusive because the other waitress working charged two families exactly what was on the board for what they ordered. Another man bought a dozen beignets for $9.95, as what was stated on the board. I have been in at least 5 times and this woman does this every time, if not to me then to another customer. It is ridiculous and a business should not be run that way. I would have given less stars if possible. I will never be back in and neither will anyone I know. The beignets are decent but not worth the terrible...
Read moreI make my pilgrimage to Gulf Shores yearly; 3 years running now. Every year, I make sure to visit two places; and Cafe Beingnets is one of them. Rodney, the guy on the fryer, actually remembered me from last year. Janelle, the lady in front, is always personable and cordial. If you cant handle the sarcasm of the suggestion box being two inches from the ceiling, your skin may not be thick enough for this place...go to Dunkin Donuts where you will be served by some snot nosed teenager who doesnt give a crap about your mass produced donuts. Onto Cafe Beingnets....home made daily....hot out of the fryer and in your hand immediately, perfectly done...NO, they are all not uniform, that is due to being hand made. you dont like so much sugar? ask for less next time. All that is in this place is a coffee machine, and the dough mixer...and some people that know how to make PERFECT beignets. I went to Cafe Du Monde while we were just down, you can have that line. they have Nothing on Cafe Beignets. Oh. btw. If you are looking for seafood, check out S&S Shrimp...BEST you will find in town. These two places constitute the majority of eating out while we are in...
