
First let me say that I was thrilled to join Crunch Gym, something close, local and affordable. My first encounter with having a problem was when my credit card information was stolen and had to close my credit card and I explained this to abc financial and the Crunch gym, that I would give them my new card information as soon as I received a new card. Every day that I had to check in for a class, they informed me I was behind on my payment (25.00!!) at the front desk in front of customers. Mind you they already had me account flagged in their computer and they said they would refrain from asking me anything until I received my new card. This happened every single time I went. My next issue with them was when I had to stop attending the gym because my daughter was unexpectedly deployed and now I was the primary care giver for my 3 year old grandson. I could not attend the gym due to my commute to work in New Brunswick every day and now the added responsibility of providing care to my grandson by taking him to and from daycare. I called several times and explained this to Crunch and their main concern was just getting money and not the concern that I had to raise a 3 year old until my daughter returns from duty in November. Then I could not due anything over the phone I had to physically come into the gym, which I had no time to do, or send a certified letter. While I was deciding to do this I was being charged from January up until June. I finally was able to take a day off from work with no pay and go into the gym and cancel my membership. Before I went to the gym to cancel I paid close to 160.00 (for a membership I didn't get to use), to make good on my contract with the gym. When the manager was about to process my termination papers, she had the audacity to ask my why I was canceling... I explained to her my situation, then she had the nerve to say that I had to pay an additional $25.00 for the month of July because in another 10 days I would be billed again! I will never and I mean never obtain another Crunch membership again under any circumstances! The manager was very rude, lacked compassion and basically made it seem like somehow I had the problem. I am very disappointed with this money hungry gym and their lack of compassion that they distribute to people and their family members that are affected by individuals who are serving our country. My daughter's deployment was not planned, me being an alternative full time parent until my daughter returns, was not planned.....Crunch Fitness needs to be ashamed of themselves and how they treat their customers and households who are affected by family members serving our country. I plan on joining another gym that treats their members with respect, dignity and compassion and just doesn't look at their customers to meet their financial quota.
Reply to Manager: Totally irrelevant and needs to be some compassion and empathy for famlies that experience emergencies such as deployment. I seen more than one comment regarding the lady/manager was extremely rude, snippy and arrogant and lets just say the other customers previous comments are very true! I would rather pay a higher price at another gym for better customer service and treatment. I work for a very big medical /educational facility and I plan on sharing my unfortunate experience at your gym every chance I get. Wouldve given 0 stars if possible. Absolutely nightmare of an experience. Do not go here, stern warning from me. Its a nightmare to cancel memberships here. I had a trainer who rarely showed up on time, always 30 min late from what we scheduled and he said i could cancel the trainer workout whenever i wanted. Which i thought i did but they said its a 6 month contract out of nowhere when i did try to cancel. The owner tried to finesse me saying i have to pay more to cancel the contract lol, and when i blocked my credit card they gave my thing to collections who were harassing me. i had to pay an extra months of trainers fees just to cancel the contract.
The shittiest part is i went there one time and they said they cancelled my gym membership which in fact they hadn't all this time which i had to find when they cut fees from my credit card. Any way do not , DO NOT go here if ure not sure, cancelling is a nightmare. Theyll ask why ure cancelling and bunch of unrelated questions and say oh ure binded by a contract by the way and u have to pay it all up.
Apart from shitty management, the gym is horrible, way too many people most of the time, the machines are almost never free. And dont even think abt using the bench press or squat machines. The mens bathroom smells like piss most of the time.
Reply to review: i probably dont come up in ur database cuz i finally got out of the membership. clearly u guys want me there tho lol, cuz i got an email saying "we miss you and want you to join again". anyway i talked to a lady with glasses, who said she was the owner, Her name was Erika or something i think. (was months ago so) idk might have been mistaken, but then again not the first time someone lied (talking abt the 6 month trainer agreement) to me over here.
Either way whats done is done, you got my money. (160$ for one month of personal trainer and 20$ extra for the membership) just wanted people to know to READ THE CONTRACT before they sign and not fall for BS fees that yall seem to have.

Read moreI’ve been dealing with issues from this club (Owner) for months being told that I was band & that I would have to get a membership to come back because I was working out & coming with friends I’ve personally known I felt Targeted & harassed today on March 10th 2022 I’ve seen the owner several times sense I’ve purchased a membership even being told hi by him on several occasions … today upon arrival & setting up to workout on a decline bench the owner tells me that him & his client that his was training will workout with me I respectfully say no & the owner tells me that ( wasn’t I band from the crunch fitness club) after I told him no that I didn’t want to workout with him and his client.& If I didn’t let him & his client train with me that I can leave or he was calling the police. I respectfully told him that I’ve done nothing wrong and I have a membership with the club and their has not been any paperwork filled of any complaints about me & I was up to good standing he told me straight up he owns the club and he does not want me in the gym.I felt at the time that because I turned this owner down on a job offer & didn’t want to work for him & he felt that if I didn’t work for him that I couldn’t workout with my friends that I couldn’t be at the Hamilton. New jersey location I truly feel because of turning him down on job offer that he doesn’t want me in the gym club…bring escorted by police to have me kicked out i truly felt racially targeted by this owner for standing up for my rights and being A BLACK...
