Also the outdorsey monuments and art Exibits including the "Emancipation of Proclamation" Oak Tree and the wonderful tours of African American Heritage for "Black History Month.
Our visit was rite on time to catch your Tour Guide touring with military members of the Coast Guard. Your Guide was great and very informative with excellent presentation of Historical Hampton University's history of inspiring motivational speakers, educators and students, residing at Hampton University.
And the exquisite art, vintage paintings, Exibits, and monuments of indigenous natives, American Indian, African, Asian and European culturel arts. Memorabilia of Union military regiment and storytelling of spiritual leaders of encouraging people whom are the strength and backbone of this Historical University...

Β Β Β Read moreThe museum is the oldest African American museum in the U.S & one of the oldest in Va. Located in the Huntington Building located on the grounds of Hampton University. The museum was founded in 1868. Over 9,000 objects not just African American art, Native American, and Asian art. Open Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Sat 12 to 4. Best part is admission is free. It's a hidden jewel. Walking in takes your breath away and to be honest I cried it that beautiful. It is a must see for visitors and if you live in Hampton Roads you have to take time and visit. There is a calendar of events lectures, workshops and if you have children the Children's Curiosity Room is a great place to introduce young ones to the world of art. If you home school this is the perfect field trip. They also hv guided tours for Senior citizens so if you plan activities for Senior citizens I think they will enjoy this and you can schedule a guided tour. Have nothing to do? Looking for something new to do on the weekends or your day off? Out of town visitors ? I think you will enjoy this. So go uncover this...
