DO NOT come here unless you want to get yelled at by your server :)
i just got married and the night before our wedding my husband and i just wanted to do something casual with our friends. after some googling found this place, had never been, and it looked like it could be a good spot for us. boy were we wrong!
when we arrived it was drizzling a little bit and their staff let us know that the only place they could fit our party (12 of us) would be outside in their COVERED patio. we of course said that was fine, sat down, and ordered drinks and food. shortly after we got our drinks the rain started coming down heavier and the cover over the patio clearly was not rain proof as we and our table and drinks started getting SOAKED.
we decided to walk inside to see if there was another solution or place for us to sit to which our server (blonde woman, 40s-50s) immediately started screaming at us in front of all the other patrons inside the restaurant because we “knew it was raining”, which yes we did but we assumed that since they were seating us on the patio even with the rain we wouldn’t be getting soaking wet outside. we proceeded to explain that since there wasn’t a place for us inside and it was now impossible to eat outside (tables and chairs were also soaked at this point) that we would just cancel our food, pay for our drinks, and try to find somewhere else.
our server, continuing to yell at us, says that we have to pay for our food even though we hadn’t received it yet and had no where to eat it.
this went on for about 20 minutes. we had no idea what to do as we didn’t want to leave without paying but didn’t understand why we were being forced to pay for food we had never received and could not sit to eat in the restaurant. our server continued to walk around the restaurant yelling about how terrible we were. mind you, i and many of my friends that were in attendance work in the restaurant business as servers and bartenders, and were trying to be as kind as possible but could not imagine EVER speaking to a customer in the way that she was.
eventually the bartender on shift (may have been a manager) got involved, there was space for us to sit in a party room the entire time so we agreed to sit and eat our food since we were being forced to pay for it either way. while i will say that the bartender took much better care of us, no apology was made for the treatment we received and we still paid full price for all of our food.
it was an absolutely insane experience and i would recommend not wasting your time going here when the people are terrible to their customers. it was a horrible way to start off the night before our wedding.
if you need somewhere fun to eat- go to park lane tavern. we went after and were promptly sat and had the BEST service ever. i’m thankful they actually took care of us and made us...
Read moreThis place is great for people that don't have taste buds! I purposefully put no stars in the food section because I was so disappointed.
Me and my partner went for restaurant week. Both of us got the crab dip, which tasted like straight up salt and cream. The "Toast Points" was just a hoagie bun cut into triangles. I got the tuna steak grilled, crab cake blackened, baked potato , the mandatory hush puppies and Cole slaw. the Tuna which i asked for it cooked medium was just dry, and bland. I've never used malt vinegar on food before but was so happy they had it on the table cause the tuna steak needed something. The crab cake was just stuffing mix, that is all I tasted of the crab cake I mean I'm sure they had crab in the blackened crab cake but I couldn't help but be brought to memories of thanksgiving because of the way it tasted. The baked potato.. That wasn't baked, They boiled it. The skin was wet and flappy. the cole slaw tasted like they just threw the cabbage and carrots in a bowl with mayo water. I was sordidly disappointed.
My partner had broiled flounder and was supposed to be a grilled crab cake, and cucumber onion salad to differ from my plate. the crab cake was the exact same thing on my plate even though mine was blackened and hers was grilled. so server messed up? I would say yea cause she didn't actually write down our order anywhere and came back to the table 3 times to be reminded of what our order was. according to my partner the flounder looked seasoned but it had no taste at all either. The cucumber and onion salad was a great pickle. I actually liked the pickle and don't entirely understand what the difference in name was but it was refreshing to eat.
The strawberry and cream cheesecake, I almost forgot to mention it. How do you forget to season your cheesecake?!? That's a slight jokey joke but I ate it and I didn't taste vanilla. alll cheesecake recipes I've ever tasted or made myself. They always have vanilla, I was genuinely amazed. Now they have 2 things that I can give them credit for. The whipped cream on top of the cheesecake. we loved it. It was so tasty. additionally, the cocktails were so strong. They knew to serve...
Read moreMe and my friends got yelled at by our server!! The night before my best friend’s wedding we took a group to this restaurant for drinks and dinner. We saw that it was supposed to rain (it was drizzling when we arrived), however they advertise a covered outdoor area so when we got there the server said we could sit outside. The “covered patio” was clearly not rain proof so and we were getting soaked. I went to the server asking if we could move to the other covered area and she basically ignored me and said she couldn’t put us inside because a big party was coming in. We all walked inside to follow her and see if we could just sit at different tables inside and when we got in she was loudly talking bad about us in front of other customers. Things escalated and she refused to let us pay for our drinks and leave because we had ordered appetizers (the food had not been brought out yet). We also had a baby with our group and all the tables inside are high tops so we couldn’t even have a high chair at the tables because it wouldn’t reach. Eventually we were sat in the back room where they had plenty of normal tables and empty seating, and we got a new server. The new server was delightful and professional, but that first server was a nightmare. The entire group we were with are all/have been in the service industry, and we were trying to be respectful, however our server (blonde woman, in her 40’s/50’s) was immediately rude, defensive, and very disrespectful that one of our friends confronted her about her disrespect towards us. Ultimately if you want a chill dinner with friends you’d be better off going to park lane tavern (where we ended up after paying for our drinks) the staff, food and vibes are always fun. Marker 20 is somewhere I will not go again, and I hope that our first server learns some decorum and kindness before...
