Stillwater Tavern — Restaurant in Hampton

We came to Hampton to visit the Space Museum and parked next to the tavern and decided to partake. We were met at the door by Nicholas (I hope I spelled it correctly) who was cordial and friendly. We sat at the bar and sampled a beer and chose a couple local brews from the taps and ordered She Crab Soup and a Grilled Chicken Salad from the menu and shared. Service was prompt and the food was awesome! The soup had just the right amount of heat and was full of flavor and I think I tasted a hint of nutmeg that just sent it into another level of goodness. The salad was just as awesome. The chicken was perfectly grilled, sliced and still moist and tender. The salad was well chopped and had an assortment of veggies added on the top. The balsamic vinegar was tasty as well. I would recommend this place to any that are nearby and want a pleasant place to sit and enjoy a meal of great food and tasty...

Atmosphere was ok. Employees that I encountered were friendly but there is no way I’m eating this food. Ordered she crab soup and a crab cake to go. When I got it home, the crab cake has a strong pungent odor that almost smells like chemicals. The she crab soup was watery with no flavor. She crab soup normally has a creamy consistency. This was straight water with crab meat added. I wish I could post the video to show me scooping it with my spoon. I am afraid to eat this food because I’m 99% sure it’s going to make me sick. Outdated and overpriced. Do yourself a favor and find another place to eat. Ordered nachos for nearly $10 and got a plate full of corn chips with huge whole pieces of lettuce and a handful of cheese, only 1/2 melted?! Literally looked like something my 8 year old cousin threw together. The burgers came out (with our sides switched) and all I can say is, meh. Wish I would have gone to Five Guys. Atmosphere is outdated and sad. Got a beer in what can only be described as a baby beer mug, price did not reflect what little was served. Just an all around, Nope! Save yourself the money and try...
